Dentons Boekel has strengthened its Intellectual Property and Technology (IP&T) and Life Sciences practices with the recruitment of highly regarded lawyer Tjibbe Douma. He joined as a partner on February 1, 2019 to lead the Patents practice in Amsterdam.
Prior to his move, Tjibbe Douma worked at Dutch law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek for 10 years, where he focused on technology-related matters, patents and trade secrets. He has extensive experience in both US and European litigation, including high-end multi-jurisdictional patent disputes. He has represented client before the European Patent Office (EPO) and in IP-related litigation and arbitration. He also advises on IP strategy, structures and contracts.
He has proven experience in the life sciences and healthcare sector, having advised major international pharmaceutical companies. He has also advised clients in the food and beverages, telecommunication and chemicals sectors.
He is recommended as a leading lawyer in directories such as The Legal 500 EMEA, Managing Intellectual Property – IP stars, IAM Patent 1000, and Who’s Who Legal. He is also an active member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES).
