PARTNER MOVES - Mayer Brown to expand Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Germany with appointment of Ulrich Helm

26 Jun 2019

Mayer Brown announced its appointment of renowned arbitrator and litigator Ulrich Helm, who will join the firm as a partner in the Frankfurt office on August 1, 2019.

Ulrich's practice is focused on complex arbitration and litigation matters across a range of sectors, particularly those involving infrastructure and plant-construction projects. Ulrich joins Mayer Brown from Hogan Lovells, where he was a longstanding partner in the Frankfurt office of almost 20 years and head of the German infrastructure, energy, resources and projects practice, which he co-founded.

""We have gained an experienced litigation lawyer who will further enhance our advisory and adversarial capabilities,” said Dr. Guido Zeppenfeld, the partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s German offices. “Strengthening the Litigation and Dispute resolution practice in Germany is a core strategic objective, which also reflects our wider commitment to the expansion of what is Mayer Brown's largest international practice. We are delighted to have attracted a renowned lawyer of Ulrich's caliber to our firm.“

Dr. Jan Kraayvanger, the head of Mayer Brown's Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Germany, added: ""Ulrich's market-leading knowledge of the complex disputes that arise within infrastructure, resources and energy projects will complement and enhance both our local and global capabilities. He is a great addition to our team.“

""The reputation of Mayer Brown's global litigation and arbitration team, together with the firm's well-established German offices, were important factors in my decision to join the firm,” added Ulrich. “Clients increasingly require cross-border litigation advice, particularly in relation to large industrial projects. Mayer Brown offers the ideal platform for my practice and I look forward to working with my new colleagues across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia to help our clients achieve their goals.""
