PARTNER MOVES - Weil Adds Banking Finance Partner Daniel Abercromby in Hong Kong

16 Oct 2019

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Daniel Abercromby has joined the Firm as a partner. Mr. Abercromby is part of Weil’s Banking & Finance practice and is based in Hong Kong.

“Daniel has advised many of the world’s top private equity firms on cross-border leveraged and acquisition financing matters. He will enhance our transactional capabilities for clients in Asia and beyond,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “We are very excited to welcome him to the Firm.”

Weil’s Hong Kong office Managing Partner Tim Gardner commented: “Daniel has extensive experience acting on European, South-East Asian and South Asian financings, having worked in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. The synergies between Daniel’s background and our Asian platform make him a perfect fit to help us further strengthen our sponsor-focused leveraged finance capabilities in Asia.”

Mr. Abercromby joined Weil from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner in the Hong Kong office. His practice focuses on cross-border leveraged and acquisition finance transactions, both public and private, together with the refinancing and restructuring of such transactions – ranging from covenant resets to debt-for-equity swaps. He acts for both borrowers (primarily private equity funds and their portfolio companies) and lenders (primarily direct-lending credit funds).
