Ignacio Corujo will establish and lead the Capital Markets practice in Spain, and Risteard de Paor will strengthen Dentons’ International Arbitration and environmental law offering
Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, has taken a major step forward in its growth strategy for Spain with the recruitment of Risteard de Paor and Ignacio Corujo as partners in Madrid.
Ignacio Corujo joins Dentons as a partner and Head of the Capital Markets practice in Madrid. He has more than 18 years’ experience in advising corporations and financial institutions on debt and equity transactions, IPOs, and debt instrument issues in local and international markets. In his new role, he will lead and develop the Capital Markets offering for clients in the Spanish market. He is mentioned as a leading capital markets lawyer in legal directories such as Chambers Europe, Chambers Global and The Legal 500 EMEA.
In addition to his legal practice, Corujo also teaches business law at the CEU Business School and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Risteard de Paor joins Dentons’ well-respected International Arbitration practice to develop the arbitration offering in Spain. He is experienced in working at the top level in international arbitration, litigation, commercial, environmental, aviation and regulatory law. With his focus on environment-related disputes involving renewable energy investors, construction companies and parties affected by environmental damage, his recruitment will reinforce the Environment and Natural Resources practice, led in Spain by partner Daniel Vazquez. He also has significant experience in representing clients in disputes in Latin America.
Risteard de Paor is common and civil law-qualified and is fluent in English, French and Spanish. He developed his career in the international arbitration departments of Hogan Lovells and, most recently, of White & Case in Paris. Prior to that, he worked in the Legal Service of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, where he gained deep knowledge of climate change law.
“The recruitment of these two respected lawyers is part of Dentons' strategic growth plan in Spain, which will continue very actively throughout 2020,” said Jesús Varela, Spain Managing Partner at Dentons. “Over the last few years, Dentons has achieved remarkable growth around the world by investing in top talent in strategic practices and sectors. We are now bringing this approach to Spain, and these two strategic signings will enhance our capabilities in Capital Markets and International Arbitration.”
