The capital markets law team at CMS in Vienna welcomes an experienced expert: Walter Gapp has joined CMS in Vienna as partner. With a focus on debt capital markets, he has specialised in supporting investment banks and issuers as well as advising on securitisation and financial market regulation for many years.
""I am very much looking forward to working at CMS, where we will be able to cover the whole range of services for capital market transactions as well as all major related legal areas,"" says Walter Gapp, who joined the CMS team in mid-February. He acquired his wide-ranging expertise and experience in this field over the last 15 years with renowned Viennese law firms and has proven his skills in international transactions.
His know-how is complemented by his previous work for the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), where he worked as an expert in the banking supervision department from 2002 to 2005 and was responsible for the supervision of savings banks and the legal interpretation of supervisory laws.
""With Walter Gapp, we are gaining an experienced expert in the field of capital markets law. His presence enables us to expand our range of services and client base,"" said Martin Zuffer, partner and head of the Capital Markets Practice Group at CMS Vienna, delighted to announce the new member.
His professional career followed a broad-based international academic education. He studied law at the University of Innsbruck, where he also trained as a translator and interpreter of French and English. Two stays abroad, one at the Institut Supérieur de Traducteurs et Interprètes ISTI in Brussels and the other at the University of Geneva, were followed by postgraduate studies in European Law and International Economic Law at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne respectively.
Walter Gapp was an associate at CMS from 2001 to 2002. With his return to CMS, you could say his career has now come full circle.
