PARTNER MOVES - Dentons adds Bankruptcy partner Brian E. Greer in New York

29 Apr 2020

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces the addition of Brian E. Greer as a partner in its Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice. Greer has a broad-ranging practice, with substantial experience representing hedge funds, private equity funds, asset managers, direct lenders, insurers, securitization servicers, debt issuers, directors, officers and equity sponsors in complex cross-border and domestic turnarounds, workouts, restructurings, wind-downs, bankruptcies, liquidations, assignments for the benefit of creditors, foreclosures and distressed M&A transactions.

Greer was a member of three award-winning chapter 11 restructuring teams, receiving The American Lawyer’s Grand Prize for Global Finance Deal of the Year for representing Standard Chartered Bank in the chapter 11 and Cayman restructuring of Arcapita Bank—the first successful chapter 11 restructuring of a Middle Eastern financial institution; M&A Advisors’ Deal of the Year ($100mm–$500mm) for representing Egalet Corporation in connection with its restructuring; and M&A Advisors’ Industrials Deal of the Year (over $100mm) for representing the second-lien ad hoc noteholder group in connection with the restructuring of Modular Space Corporation.

“Brian’s experience with fund and distressed investor clients, particularly in these challenging times, is a complementary addition to our strong restructuring team,” said Mike McNamara, Chief Executive Officer of Dentons US. “We welcome Brian as his capabilities and depth especially across industries will be highly additive to our client service.”

“Brian is a great addition to our New York and national bankruptcy teams, and he adds depth to our private equity team and related practices” said Bob Richards, Global and US Head of Dentons’ Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice.

“I was drawn to the dynamic team and client synergies throughout Dentons,” said Greer. “The Firm’s unmatched breadth of practice and geographic reach across the United States and the globe will be a great benefit to my clients. I am confident that I will be able to add significant value to Dentons’ platform and support its growth as a premier restructuring practice.”

Greer holds a JD from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a research editor of the Hofstra Law Review, and a BA from Stony Brook University.
