Simmons & Simmons has announced the recruitment of ECM specialist Jamie Corner, who will be joining as a partner in our UK corporate practice.
International law firm Simmons & Simmons has today announced the recruitment of ECM specialist Jamie Corner, who will be joining as a partner in our UK corporate practice on Monday 7 September, based in London.
Jamie joins the firm from Davis Polk & Wardell where he was counsel in the corporate practice in London. He is a recognised UK ECM specialist and the only non-partner listed in Chambers UK 2020 for equity capital markets. As a pure play ECM specialist, Jamie’s practice focuses on advising investment banking, corporate and investment funds clients on the full range of London equity capital markets and Listing Rules transactions. His experience includes advising HM Government on its sales of shares in Lloyds, RBS and Royal Mail; advising ContourGlobal, DFS, Hastings Insurance, Poundland, SSP and others on their London listings; and advising the underwriting banks on secondary offerings, including the rights issues of Hammerson and Barclays, the open offers of AA and Non-Standard Finance, and numerous cash and cash-box placings and private placements.
Jamie will work closely with Colin Bole, head of the firm’s equity capital markets team in the UK, the firm’s London-based US securities law team and our market-leading financial services regulatory team to grow our UK ECM offering.
Colin commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie to the firm and to our ECM team. He is a hugely talented and highly regarded lawyer and his appointment is an important strategic step towards becoming the market-leading firm for premium ECM and Listing Rule sponsor transactions involving FTSE250 issuers.”
Commenting on joining the firm, Jamie said: “I’m very excited to join such a highly-regarded practice and look forward to working with Colin and the wider Simmons team to assist our clients in these unprecedented times. The quality of Simmons’ offering means we are ideally placed to continue to grow our ECM platform both in the UK and internationally.”
