PARTNER MOVES - Simmons & Simmons expands real estate offering in Ireland

22 Sep 2020

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that Peter McKeever, a commercial real estate partner, has joined its Dublin office.

Peter joins the firm from Matheson, where he has spent the last fourteen years building a strong reputation across the real estate sector. Peter’s experience includes advising on acquisitions and disposals, commercial and industrial properties and land development, commercial landlord and tenant work, and planning/environmental issues.

Peter has advised on a number of significant transactions, including acting for a syndicate of Irish banks in the €300m financing of the purchase and/or refinancing of twenty eight hotels in Ireland and England.

More recently he has acted for a private equity funder in funding the acquisition and development of sites for both commercial and residential development in Dublin and then onwards sale, which included the structuring and set-up of limited partnerships. Peter continues to build his real estate financing practice by acting for international entrants into the market, advising clients such as Deutsche Bank, AIG and PGIM on these matters.

On welcoming Peter to the firm, Ireland Country Head Fionán Breathnach commented: “It’s great to have Peter join our team here in Dublin to further strengthen our real estate and transactional teams. We’ve got an ambitious growth strategy for Ireland, and Peter’s arrival signals a further expansion of the skills and experience that our partners have to offer. I am delighted that Peter will be lending expertise to our banking and corporate teams, while further developing his own real estate practice.”

On joining Simmons, Peter commented: “I’m delighted and excited to join the Simmons team in Dublin, as there are clear synergies between my experience and the needs of existing and prospective Simmons clients, and I look forward to enhancing the expertise on offer from the firm’s Dublin base.”
