Simmons & Simmons announced that its Madrid office will grow with arrival of Ignacio Dominguez on 19 April. Ignacio will join the firm as a partner in the Spanish mergers and acquisitions (M&A) team.
Ignacio joins the firm from Latham & Watkins where he has been counsel in the corporate practice since 2008, simultaneously leading the firm’s Spanish pro bono effort. Additionally, Ignacio has been President of UNICEF Madrid since January 2020, where he has spent the last year working to improve the welfare of disadvantaged children during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ignacio’s practice focuses on advising private equity funds and financial institutions. He advises clients on a range of matters, including insolvencies, restructuring and capital market transactions. As a result of his dedication to pro bono work, he has also evolved an expertise in advice around ESG, particularly in the investment space.
Ignacio’s arrival represents the third partner hire made by Simmons’ Madrid leadership in the last year, following Raquel Ballesteros to the litigation team and Santiago Hurtado to the insolvency team, in September and October respectively.
Commenting on Ignacio’s arrival at the firm, Spain country head Andrés Mochales said: ""Ignacio's incorporation demonstrates Simmons & Simmons' ambitious plan to continue growing in Spain. His strength in the private equity sector further builds the firm’s existing expertise in this area."".
On joining Simmons & Simmons, Ignacio commented: ""I am excited to be part of a first class team with enormous potential at national and international level to carry out high-level M&A transactions."".
