06 Sep 2024

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that intellectual property and technology lawyer Max Scott has returned to the Firm as a partner in the Technology & IP Transactions Group, based in the newly-opened San Francisco office.

“Max has built a well-deserved reputation at Weil for his outstanding legal talent, unique skillset and team focus. He was highly regarded by colleagues and clients during his previous tenure at the Firm and we are thrilled to welcome him back,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf.

“Max’s practice aligns perfectly with the needs of our M&A and private equity clients,” said Michael J. Aiello, Chairman of Weil’s global Corporate Department. “His substantive expertise and knowledge of the firm will make him an immediate and invaluable asset to our global transactional clients.”

“Max has a deep knowledge of the technology (including semiconductor) and life sciences industries and is a thought leader in the AI space,” said Charan Sandhu and Jeffrey Osterman, Co-Heads of Weil’s Technology & IP Transactions Group. “His impressive talent, drive and overall commitment to excellence make him a tremendous addition to the team.”

Max represents clients in complex commercial transactions with a focus on technology and IP-related deals, including the IP aspects of private equity and M&A transactions. He advises on matters related to the joint development, licensing, acquisition, sale, use and protection of IP. He also assists with agreements for the provision of technology-related services, reseller agreements, and outsourcing and distribution agreements.

Max joins from Hogan & Lovells LLP, where he was counsel in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology Group. He was previously an associate in the Technology & IP Transactions Group at Weil. He was the sole recipient of Chambers and Partners’ “Associate to Watch” ranking for Technology in California for 2024.

“I am very excited to be rejoining my colleagues at Weil as the Firm continues to invest in its technology transactional capabilities,” said Max Scott. “I look forward to supporting the Firm’s growing California private equity and M&A practices while leveraging my experience in the technology and life sciences industries.”
