Herbert Smith Freehills has advised on the construction, operation and financing for the 100 MW wind farm to be constructed in Hornsdale, approximately 200km north of Adelaide in South Australia. The wind farm will have a capital value of approximately A$285 million.
Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Swiss power plant operator KKB AG (“KKB”) on the acquisition of the “Wölkisch” wind farm from project developer WSB Neue Energien Holding GmbH.

Eversheds has successfully advised the Forewind consortium on the second phase of Dogger Bank Teesside A & B offshore wind farm – making it one of the largest energy projects to receive planning consent in the UK.
Dogger Bank Teesside A & B is located off the north east coast in the North Sea. It will include up to 400 wind turbines across two offshore wind generating stations, each with an installed capacity of up to 1.2 gigawatts. The project is being developed by the Forewind consortium, a joint venture formed by RWE, SSE, Statkraft and Statoil.
A team led by Dr. Mirko Sickinger, LL.M., Partner at the commercial law firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Cologne, advised Hamburg-based KTG Energie AG on a capital increase under exclusion of subscription rights. The capital increase was fully subscribed within a short time, placing a total of 650,000 new shares at a subscription price of EUR 11.80 with institutional investors. The company intends to use the gross issue proceeds of EUR 7.67 million to take advantage of acquisition opportunities in the market and to finance its further expansion.
Energy sector experts from Burges Salmon have advised Belectric GmbH on the sale of three further solar projects – Atherstone, Paddock Wood and Southam, located in Warwickshire and Kent – which were previously owned by a Joint Venture company between First Solar GmbH and Belectric GmbH.
Belectric GmbH, a world leader in the construction of solar power plants, sold the solar projects, with an aggregate output of 34MW, to a Joint Venture between Foresight and the community benefit solar group co-operating with Belectric, Big60Million.
Advising Longsol BV in connection with the sale to DIF Infrastructure III of 100% of the shares of the 8.9 MW Valence sur Baïse and 10.7 MW Saint Leger solar projects located in South-West France.
The projects reached commercial operation at the end of 2011 and sell power pursuant to 20 year French feed-in-tariff contracts.
The ground-mounted plants are equipped with polycrystalline solar panels and the operation & maintenance is undertaken by the Spanish EPC contractor TSK. Long term project financing is in place for both projects.
