Stromnetz Hamburg secures concessions for operating the power distribution grid in Hamburg with the support of Allen & Overy

Allen & Overy LLP advised power distribution company Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH in its successful bid for electric distribution concession rights in the City of Hamburg. The Hamburg Senate approved the conclusion of a concession contract with Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH at its meeting on Tuesday, 11 November 2014. The contract has a 20-year term and is accompanied by a cooperation agreement in which the city governors and Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH have set out their principles for future-oriented power grid operations.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises Huaneng Power on US$1.19 billion acquisition of Chinese power plants

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Huaneng Power International Inc., one of China's largest listed power producers, on its acquisition of equity interests in ten power plants in China for a total consideration of US$1.19 billion.  Beijing-based Huaneng Power is the listed unit of the mainland’s largest power producer, China Huaneng Group. The company is mainly engaged in developing, constructing, operating and managing large-scale power plants throughout China.

OW Bunker A/S bankrupt

On 7 November 2014, the Bankruptcy Court in Aalborg issued a bankruptcy order against the company OW Bunker A/S, CVR no. 34 90 01 67, Stigsborgvej 60, 9400 Nørresundby, Denmark.

John Sommer Schmidt, attorney with Gorrissen Federspiel, and Pernille Bigaard, attorney with the law firm Plesner, were appointed by the Bankruptcy Court to act as trustees of the bankrupt company.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises Huaneng Power on HK$3.1 billion H-share placement

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Huaneng Power International Inc., one of China's largest listed power producers, on its HK$3.14 billion H-share placement.

The 365,000,000 H-shares placed by Huaneng Power represented 10.27 per cent of the size of its 3.55 billion total existing H-shares issued on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The net proceeds from the share placement are intended to be used for supplementing the company's working capital.
