Slaughter and May advised Impello Limited on its sale to The Shell Petroleum Company Limited

Slaughter and May advised Impello Limited, the parent entity of the First Utility group, on its sale to The Shell Petroleum Company Limited.  The First Utility group is a leading independent UK household energy and broadband providers, and is one of the largest rivals to the “big six” energy suppliers.

The sale completed on 28 February 2018 and marks Shell’s entry into the market for direct sales of electricity and gas to UK households.

Ashurst advises the Victorian Government on the A$2.077 billion sale of its interest in Snowy Hydro Limited

Ashurst is acting as the legal adviser to the Victorian Government in the A$2.077 billion sale of its 29% share in Snowy Hydro Limited (Snowy Hydro or The Company) to the Commonwealth Government (the Commonwealth).

The New South Wales Government will also sell its 58% share in The Company to the Commonwealth for A$4.154 billion. Following the completion, the Commonwealth will wholly own Snowy Hydro, increasing from its current 13% ownership.

Debevoise Advises Motor Fuel Group in its £1.2 Billion Acquisition of MRH

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has advised Motor Fuel Group (“MFG”) in the financing and tax structuring of its £1.2 billion acquisition of MRH, the U.K.'s largest petrol station and convenience retail operator.

The transaction will create the U.K.'s largest operator by number of sites, and second largest by fuel volume. Together, MFG and MRH will operate more than 900 sites. On a combined basis, MFG and MRH sold approximately 3.6 billion litres of fuel in 2017.

Dentons has advised Tenaga Nasional Berhad ("TNB"), one of the largest utility players in Asia, with a market capitalisation of RM89.2 billion (c. £16.5bn) as at 26 February 2018, on its acquisition of an 80 per cent shareholding in two UK renewable companies, GVO Wind Limited and Bluemerang Capital Limited. The acquisition, which has an enterprise value of approximately £171 million, is the Malaysian energy provider's first foray into onshore wind in the UK.
