WBD advises on major energy transaction

WBD has advised Third Energy Holdings Ltd, a specialist in the production and exploration of gas reserves, on the divestment of the entire issued share capital of Third Energy Offshore Ltd to Anglo-Dutch oil company Hague and London Oil plc (HALO).

A multidisciplinary WBD team advised on the transaction, with the firm drawing on its substantial experience of advising on M&A transactions in the energy sector. The transaction was led by corporate partner Simon Hewes, working closely with head of oil and gas, partner Paul Stockley.

Dentons has advised Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC ("OOCEP"), the exploration arm of the state-owned Oman Oil Company SAOC, on the sale of a 10 per cent stake in the giant Khazzan gas onshore field and project in Oman to Malaysia's Petronas.

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Storengy Deutschland GmbH (“Storengy”) on the sale of its stake in the gas storage facility in Breitbrunn/Eggstätt in Bavaria to Slovakia’s NAFTA a.s (“NAFTA”). In parallel, NAFTA also acquired stakes in the Breitbrunn/Eggstätt, Inzenham-West and Wolfersberg underground gas storage facilities from DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises Falck Renewables on the acquisition of five wind farms

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised listed Italian energy company Falck Renewables S.p.A, through its France-based subsidiary Falck Energies Renouvelables SAS, on the acquisition, for an expected price of approximately EUR 37m, of a portfolio of five operating wind farms totaling an installed capacity of 59.5MW, with an expected annual total output of 117 GWh, from clean energy investor Glennmont Clean Energy Cooperatief U.A.

CMS advises crude oil and natural gas group DEA on its divestment of its gas storage facilities in Bavaria

Hamburg – DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG has sold three underground natural gas storage facilities operating in southern Bavaria to NAFTA Bavaria GmbH. The buyer is a subsidiary of Slovak NAFTA a.s., a company of the Czech EPH Group. The transfer became effective as of January 1st, 2019.

Alectra Utilities merges with Guelph Hydro Electric Systems, creating largest municipally-owned electric utility in Canada

On Jan. 1, 2019, Alectra Utilities Corporation and Guelph Hydro Electric Systems Inc. completed the merger of their two electricity distribution utilities.

Alectra  is now the largest municipally-owned electric utility in Canada  by customer base, serving more than one million homes and businesses in Ontario's Greater Golden Horseshoe area.

Linklaters advises as Saudi Electricity signs $2.15bn credit facility

Linklaters has advised Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) on a revolving credit facility agreement with eight international banks for $2.15bn (SR8.06billion).
 
The facility is divided into two tranches: the first with a maximum of $1.578bn, which will mature after three years, and the second with a maximum of $573m that will mature after five years.
