Herbert Smith Freehills advised on China Merchants Bank $1 billion rights shares offering in Hong Kong

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised China Merchants Bank on its 680,423,172 H-rights shares issuance which raised approximately US$1 billion in Hong Kong. The bank's latest H-rights  offering follows its  Shanghai Stock Exchange listing of 2,962,813,544 A-rights shares in September, which raised approximately US$4.5 billion.

Shearman & Sterling Advises on $10 Billion Financing for Johnson & Johnson

Shearman & Sterling represented Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. as joint lead arrangers and joint book managers in connection with a $10 billion 364-day credit facility for Johnson & Johnson.

GE Money Bank and GE Capital Swiss Funding - proposed initial public offering of the majority of GE Money Bank's shares

Slaughter and May is advising GE Money Bank ('GEMB'), a leading Swiss consumer finance provider, and GE Capital Swiss Funding AG, the sole shareholder of GEMB and part of the GE group, on the proposed initial public offering of the majority of GEMB's shares.
 
Application will be made for all of GEMB's shares to be listed in accordance with the main standard on the SIX Swiss Exchange. The proposed IPO is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2013, subject to market conditions.

DLA Piper acts for ING in successful Court of Appeal ruling

DLA Piper successfully acted for ING on appeal of a claim instituted by Stichting Misrekening. In its judgment of 1 October 2013, the Amsterdam Court of Appeal ruled that ING did not mislead customers about the interest rate on its 'Toprekening'. Stichting Misrekening had adopted the position that the Postbank (that was incorporated into ING) wrongly informed customers in 2008 and 2009 about the interest on its 'Toprekening'. The Court of Appeal disagrees.

Second Circuit Affirms Dismissal of Putative Class Action Against JP Morgan

Paul, Weiss obtained a significant victory on behalf of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Inc. and J.P. Morgan Futures, Inc. (JPMorgan) in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The Second Circuit affirmed the district court's judgment dismissing a putative class action filed on behalf of all traders who purchased and sold NYMEX natural gas futures contracts during a period in 2006.
