Eversheds advises on financing for African hospital

Global law firm Eversheds has advised the International Finance Corporation on a $37m hospital PPP for the Cross River State Government, Nigeria. The project has now reached financial close.

The project comprises the design, construction, equipping and operation of a 105 bed referral hospital in Calabar. An operational contract was awarded to UCL Healthcare Services following a lengthy procurement process.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises joint lead managers on ANZ’s A$1 billion capital notes offer

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised the joint lead managers of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited’s (ANZ) offer of new Tier 1 hybrid securities known as ANZ Capital Notes (Notes), which are fully paid, mandatorily convertible, subordinated, perpetual notes issued by ANZ (Offer). The Offer raised A$1 billion, with the ability to raise more.

The Notes are offered at an issue price of $100 and are expected to be quoted on the ASX.

Freshfields advises on the US$938m rights issue of PICC P&C

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised the joint lead underwriters and joint lead bookrunners on the US$938m rights issue of PICC Property and Casualty Company Limited (PICC P&C).

PICC P&C, the Chinese state-controlled and China’s leading non-life insurer, has issued 418.2 million H-shares at HK$5.38 per share and 930 million domestic shares at RMB4.3 per share. PICC P&C has raised a total of RMB5.7bn (US$938m) from the rights issue and will use the proceeds to strengthen its capital base.

Allen & Overy LLP has advised the German bank in issuing its first bond denominated in Chinese Renminbi in Taiwan.

The German bank was the first international financial institution that issued such a bond in Taiwan. The so-called "Formosa bond" (issued in Taiwan borrowing in foreign currency), with a volume of 1.1 billion CNY the largest renminbi bond that has been issued in Taiwan. The bond will be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange GreTai, which Taiwanese private investors can invest directly in the bond.

Ashurst advises lenders on the refinancing of Pret A Manger

Ashurst advises on A$63.1m equity raising by Sundance Energy

Ashurst has advised Euroz Securities Limited as joint lead manager and underwriter in a A$63.1 million equity raising by Sundance Energy Australia Limited.

The A$63.1 million equity raising comprised of a A$48.1 million underwritten placement and a capped A$15 million raising under the share purchase plan by Sundance Energy.

As a result of strong investor demand, the placement was heavily oversubscribed.
