Hogan Lovells advised African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim) as mandated lead arranger and lender in relation to the pre-delivery and delivery financing for Kenya Airways Limited of ten Embraer E-190 aircraft and the pre-delivery financing of nine Boeing 787 aircraft and one Boeing 777 aircraft.

On Tuesday 26 February 2013 the PPP project A1/A6 Diemen – Almere Havendreef in the Netherlands reached Financial Close. This project is part of the highway extension program Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere (SAA). The financing agreements were signed, which marks the successful completion of the tender procedure for the design, build, financing and maintenance of the extension of the A1/A6 Diemen – Almere Havendreef.

Freshfields advises National Bank of Greece on all-share buyout of Eurobank

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is advising longstanding client National Bank of Greece (NBG) on an all-share buyout of Greek lender Eurobank. The deal clears the way for a merger to form the country’s biggest lender.
NBG offered 58 new shares for every 100 shares of Eurobank. The combined entity will have total assets of €174 billion, loans of €113 billion and deposits of €85 billion based on their financial statements at end-September 2012 along with a significant presence in Turkey, Romania and Serbia.

Strategic role for Clifford Chance in Euro debt crisis resolution

Clifford Chance recently advised the European Stability Mechanism ("ESM") on its debt issuance programme and on the inaugural issue of EUR 39 billion of notes, on 5 December 2012.

The first issue of ESM notes was used to finance the first ESM lending operation to the Kingdom of Spain to finance the re-capitalisation of the Spanish banking sector.

International law firm Clifford Chance is advising the lenders on the financing of a USD 88,5 million 15-year loan granted to the company Polesine S.A., a subsidiary of Akuo Energy S.A.S., to finance the construction and operation of a wind farm in Uruguay. The Lenders were PROPARCO, which arranged the financing, FMO and DEG, respectively the French, Dutch and German development finance institutions.
