Shearman & Sterling Advises on India Direct-to-Home Merger

Shearman & Sterling acted as international counsel to Indian direct-to-home service providers Dish TV and Videocon d2h (Vd2h) on their merger to form a new entity, Dish TV Videocon Ltd.

Dish TV Videocon will have revenue of about 59.16 billion rupees ($879.11 million) and net subscribers of 27.6 million, becoming the biggest player in India's fast-growing direct-to-home operator market.

DLA Piper advises Radiant Group in its acquisition by DigitalGlobe

DLA Piper represented Radiant Group, Inc., a technical solutions and systems engineering provider, in its acquisition by DigitalGlobe, Inc., a provider of commercial high-resolution earth imagery products and services. Radiant was previously held privately by Aston Capital, and was purchased for US$140 million in cash.

The transaction bolsters DigitalGlobe's capabilities in the defense sector. Radiant's geospatial information and solutions, big data analytics and intelligence analysis will provide DigitalGlobe's customers with increased defense value and insights.

Bird & Bird's Stockholm Dispute Resolution group, led by partner Ulf Mellqvist, has represented one of Sweden's leading TV and broadband suppliers, Com Hem AB, in an extensive criminal trial.

Our role included supporting the prosecutor as well bringing an action for Com Hem's damages claims. With the trial proceedings on-going between August and October, the sentence was finally announced on the 16 November, and to great success. Com Hem are to be compensated for the full 12 million SEK as well as getting full compensation for the legal costs.
