Google : Data Protection and Privacy Court Cases

Castrén & Snellman acts on behalf of Google in Finnish court cases concerning data protection and privacy matters, including the so-called ‘right to be forgotten’ as established by the European Court of Justice in 2014. We have also acted for Google in several cases concerning issues under the Freedom of Speech Act, and for example in a court case concerning Google’s AdSense program.

Successful completion of capital increase of SIX Swiss Exchange listed Airopack Technology Group AG

In connection with the strategic partnership entered into by SIX Swiss Exchange listed Airopack Technology Group AG (ATG) with funds managed by affiliates of Apollo General Management, LLC (the Apollo Funds), ATG on 7 July 2016 successfully completed its capital increase regarding the equity investment from the Apollo Funds with net proceeds in the amount of approximately CHF 43.5 million.

Orange acquires leading Moldovan PayTV provider Sun Communications

Travers Smith LLP has advised Orange on the acquisition of Sun Communications by Orange Moldova.

Sun Communications is the leading Pay TV provider in Moldova by customer base and offers digital and cable TV services under the SunTV brand to its customers. With over 172 channels and 25 HD channels, SunTV is one of the largest providers of cable TV services with over 100,000 active customers. Sun also offers internet and VOIP (Voice over IP) services to over 38,000 customers in Moldova.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised BMG on the acquisition of J Albert & Son Pty Limited, also known as Alberts.

Alberts has a 131 year history in the Australian music industry, having published songs and released records from many of the greatest names in Australian music including AC/DC, The Easybeats and their songwriters Harry Vanda, George Young and Stevie Wright, John Paul Young and Rose Tattoo. The company also now hosts a roster of contemporary writers including Montaigne, Megan Washington, Brendan Gallagher, Josh Pyke, Urthboy, the Cat Empire and San Cisco.

Vinge advises IP-Only in connection with the acquisition of Arkena’s Nordic operations (previously Qbrick) from the French TDF group. Arkena Nordics offers solutions within video and streaming.

Avast Software announces tender offer for AVG

De Brauw has advised Avast Software on its proposed acquisition of NYSE-listed AVG Technologies N.V. through a tender offer.

The acquisition of AVG will allow Avast to gain scale, technological depth and geographical breadth to take advantage of emerging growth opportunities in internet security.

Shearman & Sterling Advises Liberty Global on Its Cross-Currency Swap

Shearman & Sterling advised Liberty Global on its novel cross-currency hedging transaction to hedge exposure to foreign exchange risk in respect of the Jamaican dollar following its acquisition of Cable & Wireless Communications. This cross-currency transaction was entered into with Goldman Sachs International and has a notional amount of approximately $80 million.

Shearman & Sterling has a long-standing relationship with Liberty Global, having previously advised on its $8.2 billion (£5.5 billion) acquisition of CWC.
