Hill Dickinson has recently advised Golden Saint Technologies Limited (LON: GST) (Golden Saint), an integrated information and communication technology infrastructure solutions provider, on the reverse takeover of EMS Wiring Systems PTE Ltd (EMS) and the admission of the enlarged group’s issued share capital to the standard segment of the main market of the London Stock Exchange PLC (Admission).

Ropes & Gray has advised Altice USA - one of the largest broadband communications and video services providers in the United States – on the issuance of $1.5 billion Senior Guaranteed Notes due 2029 by its subsidiary CSC Holdings. The firm also advised Altice USA on a refinancing of CSC Holdings’ existing revolving credit facility.

Pinsent Masons to advise on pioneering data trusts projects

International Law firm Pinsent Masons has been appointed by the Open Data Institute to advise on the legal aspects of establishing 'data trusts' as three innovative UK government backed projects are announced.

The Open Data Institute (ODI) in partnership with the Government's Office for AI (OAI) are leading three new pilots to inform the design and development of data trusts. Jeremy Wright, the UK's digital, culture, media and sport secretary announced details of the pilots today (31st January 2019).

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Orange, one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, on its partnership with French insurance group Groupama in the French home telesurveillance sector and the establishment, for that purpose, of a joint company named Protectline.

Protectline is a joint platform for the operation and management of home telesurveillance services. Orange holds 51 percent of the company's capital and Groupama holds the remaining 49 percent.

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Naspers, a global internet and entertainment group and one of the world's largest technology investors, on its US$1.16 billion acquisition of an additional 29.1 percent shareholding in Avito, the leading Russian online classifieds site.

The transaction values Avito at an implied enterprise value of US$3.85 billion. Following the acquisition Naspers stake in Avito will increase from 70.4 percent to 99.6 percent (on a fully diluted basis). The remaining shares are held by existing management.

International Arbitration Practice Achieves Significant Judgment From the European Court of Human Rights in Freedom of Expression and Private Life Rights Case

On January 10, 2019, the International Arbitration Practice at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, acting alongside the Media Legal Defence Initiative (MLDI), obtained a significant judgment from the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Khadija Ismayilova v. Azerbaijan. In a unanimous judgment, the ECtHR found violations of the applicant’s rights to respect for private life and freedom of expression, and highlighted the “grave chilling effect” on journalism of the government’s conduct.
