DLA Piper advises Oasis Petroleum in purchase of drilling locations from SM Energy Company

DLA Piper represented oil and gas exploration and production company Oasis Petroleum Inc., in the acquisition of approximately 55,000 net acres in North Dakota's Williston Basin from SM Energy Company in a US$785 million transaction.

The newly acquired assets will increase Oasis' core acreage and inventory by approximately 25 percent.

Sidley Represents Aboitiz Power Corporation in its US$1.2 Billion Acquisition of Coal-fired Power Plants in the Philippines

Sidley represented Aboitiz Power Corporation in its US$1.2 billion acquisition of a 66.1 percent interest in a 604 MW subcritical coal-fired power plant and a 40 percent interest in a 1,336 MW greenfield supercritical coal-fired power plant in the Philippines. The power projects were acquired following a private auction by Blackstone/Sithe Global. Sidley also represented Aboitiz Power Corporation in the US$650 million acquisition financing facility from international banks led by Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Standard Chartered Bank.

Hogan Lovells advises Keppel on Cardiff data centre acquisition

Hogan Lovells have advised Keppel DC REIT (Keppel), the first pure-play data centre REIT listed in Asia and on the Singapore Exchange, on their acquisition of a data centre in the Celtic Gateway Business Park for £34m.  The data centre is fully let to one of largest global cloud service providers on a 15-year full repairing and insuring lease that commenced in June 2016.

Debevoise Advises HarbourVest in the Acquisition of the Investment Portfolio of SVG Capital for £806.6 million

The London and New York offices of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP have advised long-time client HarbourVest Partners (“HarbourVest”) in its agreement to acquire of 100% of the investment portfolio of SVG Capital plc (“SVG Capital”) for an aggregate purchase price of £806.6 million.

Following the acquisition, the board of SVG Capital expects approximately £1,118 million to be returned to shareholders through a series of tender offers and the winding up of the company.

Ashurst advises Sekisui House on A$360m acquisition at Wentworth Point

Ashurst has advised Sekisui House in its acquisition of a 9.4 hectare super site located on the most northerly point of the peninsula suburb, Wentworth Point, in a deal worth A$360 million.

The residential property builder and developer, one of Japan's largest homebuilders, won the Roads and Maritime Services' competitive tender, managed by UrbanGrowthNSW, with a proposal featuring a mixed-use master plan community of 2,000 apartments.

On Oct. 13, 2016, Norton Rose Fulbright represented an affiliate of Genesis Park, LP (a partnership founded by Paul Hobby) in its agreement to purchase the assets of Texas Monthly magazine from Emmis Communications Corporation for US$25 million, subject to working capital adjustments.

Texas Monthly magazine is a leading lifestyle publication covering human interest stories in Texas since 1973, winning 13 National Magazine Awards. Emmis has owned Texas Monthly since 1998.

Hannes Snellman acted as counsel to Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation, a leading Japanese renewable energy company in its acquisition of two wind farms in Finland from Maas Capital Renewables and YARD ENERGY. The wind farms Kankaanpäänmäki and Mustaisneva, with a total capacity of 27.5 megawatts, consist of 11 Lagerwey L100-2.5 megawatt wind turbines in the Southern Ostrobothnia region.

Belgian Beyne NV acquires parts of bankrupt Vogel & Noot Landmaschinen

The international law firm Baker & McKenzie advised Beyne NV, a Belgian mechanical engineering company, on the acquisition of the “Premium Parts” segment from the bankrupt Vogel & Noot Landmaschinen GmbH & Co KG. With liabilities amounting to EUR 17 million, the bankruptcy of Vogel & Noot has been one of Austria's major bankruptcies this year.
