Ashurst advised Proventus Capital Partners ("Proventus") and two new UK-registered companies owned by Proventus, Polestar Print Holdings Limited and Polestar UK Print Limited, on the recent pre-packaged acquisition of the business and assets of the Polestar Group, the UK's largest independent printing company and leading content delivery specialist.  Proventus is the Polestar Group's former major shareholder and lender.

DWF Germany advises Golden Star on two property acquisitions

DWF Germany advised international property investment company Golden Star Properties B.V. (Golden Star) on the asset acquisition of BMW’s training academy in Munich and the leasehold of a landmark office building in Frankfurt. 

The DWF team, led by real estate partners Oliver Bolthausen and Dr Falko Grauer, advised Golden Star on the acquisition of BMW’s 16,000 square metre training academy from the seller, Hertie Stiftung.

Squire Patton Boggs has advised Keywords Studios plc, the international technical services provider to the global video games industry, in three cross-border acquisitions in the past two weeks.

Established in 1998, Keywords Studios provides integrated art creation, localisation, testing, audio and customer care services across 50 languages and 14 games platforms to a blue chip client base in more than 15 countries.

Hengeler Mueller advises LEG on acquisition of residential portfolio

On 13 April 2016, LEG Immobilien AG signed an agreement for acquiring a portfolio of about 1.100 residential units located in core markets of LEG, by way of a share
deal. The agreed property value amounts to €53m; in addition, the transaction includes the assumption of debt of about €20m. LEG’s obligations under the agreement can be settled in cash or by issuing new shares. The transaction is expected to close by end of July 2016, at the latest.

Clifford Chance advises BNP Paribas REIM on the purchase of an historical office building in Düsseldorf

Clifford Chance has advised BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Management (REIM) Germany on the acquisition of an historical office building in Düsseldorf on behalf of an investor from the Middle East.

The building on Breite Strasse was purchased for a very substantial eight-figure sum. The property is held by a Luxembourg company and is fully let. BNP Paribas REIM Germany is also responsible for the ongoing asset management of the property.

Shearman & Sterling Advises on Phoenix Healthcare’s High Profile Acquisition of China Resources Healthcare Group

Shearman & Sterling is advising Hong Kong-listed Phoenix Healthcare on its US$480 million acquisition of certain hospital businesses of China Resources Healthcare Group (CR Healthcare), one of the largest state-owned enterprises in China’s healthcare industry. CR Healthcare will become a controlling shareholder of Phoenix Healthcare.

Phoenix Healthcare is one of the largest private hospital groups in the PRC, comprising 60 medical institutions with approximately 5,780 beds in operation in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. 

Arntzen de Besche assists Tristan Capital Partners and Malling Project Finance

Stoa Vest retail park, consisting of retail property and approved development area was recently sold to Tristan Capital Partners.

The recent transaction consists of 22,500 square meters commercial property and additionally 11,500 square meters approved development area.

The property is located in Arendal (south of Norway) and was sold for approximately NOK 440 million. The seller is Nordea Liv.

The team from Arntzen de Besche was led by partner Thomas Øslebø and partner Trond Kildal.

Dentons advises Sports Direct on Oxford Street acquisition

Dentons has advised Sports Direct on its acquisition of 161-167 Oxford Street and 36 Poland Street in central London.

Sports Direct intends to redevelop the property, following which it will use the retail part of the property as a new FLANNELS.com flagship store, and the office space above as the Group’s new London office, replacing its former offices at New Cavendish Street. The consideration payable for the property is £108 million.

Real Estate partner Andrew Henderson, long-time legal adviser to Sports Direct, is leading on the deal.

Gowling WLG completes £269 million series of deals for Empiric Student Property

Gowling WLG has completed five major transactions for Empiric Student Property Plc (Empiric), with an aggregate value of £269 million.

The firm's corporate, real estate finance and real estate teams were all in action for longstanding client Empiric, the owner and operator of premium student accommodation across the UK.

Corporate partner, and Empiric client partner, John Reed led on a new £125 million equity fund raising with support from associate Emily Troubridge.
