Ashurst advises Infinis on the acquisition of an 18.5MW onshore wind farm project from Peel Group

Ashurst advised Infinis Energy plc, a leading independent generator of renewable power in the UK, on the acquisition of an 18.5MW consented onshore wind farm project from Peel Group.

The wind farm is sited on former surface mining land in Northumberland and neighbours the 8MW consented Sisters Wind Farm project developed by Infinis.  Both projects are at an advanced stage of pre-construction and will enable Infinis to secure grid connection, turbine procurement and further ongoing operational synergies. Infinis expects grid energisation for both projects in June 2016.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Scape Student Living Australia (Scape) on the acquisition of two Australian properties for the purposes of developing student accommodation.

The properties, located at 212-222 La Trobe Street in Melbourne’s Central Business District and 188 Vulture Street and 53 Tribune Streets, Brisbane will be developed into modern student accommodation with 1500 rooms in Melbourne and 7000 rooms in Brisbane aimed at both international and domestic students.

Charles Russell Speechlys advises management on The Groucho Club buy-out

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised the management of The Groucho Club, London’s premier members-only media establishment on the sale of the club by Graphite Capital to the management team and others.

The deal will provide funds to open a second Groucho Club in New York, with plans afoot for a third club in the pipeline.

The management buy-out was backed by Alcuin Capital Partners, Isfield Investments and a number of high net worth individuals. Graphite Capital also retains a stake in the club.

Dentons real estate team has advised long-standing client Region Group of Companies on the acquisition of the prime office property Mercedes-Benz Plaza, located at Leningradskiy prospect 39A, Moscow.

Mercedes-Benz Plaza has a total area of 16,481.6 sq.m. and is a modern high quality Class A office building used as the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz in Russia. The building is also combined with Daimler’s car dealership for sales of Mercedes-Benz cars. The property has frontage on Leningradskiy prospect, one of the key traffic arteries in Moscow.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises HANSAINVEST on the acquisition of a wind park portfolio

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised HANSAINVEST, the asset manager of Signal Iduna Group, on the acquisition of eight onshore wind parks with a total capacity of 100 megawatts from Bremen based wpd AG.

The acquisition is Signal Iduna Group’s first direct investment in the renewables and infrastructure asset class. Signal Iduna Group continue to consider further opportunities in the sector.

DLA Piper advises Dignity on the acquisition of 36 funeral locations from Laurel Funerals

DLA Piper has advised longstanding client, Dignity plc (Dignity), the UK's only listed provider of funeral related services, on a conditional sale and purchase agreement to acquire 36 locations from Laurel Funerals (Laurel) for £38 million.

Laurel is a funeral business which currently operates 83 locations across the UK. In order to avoid any potential competition concerns, Dignity will only acquire locations that complement its own geographic spread, and will not acquire 47 other locations, operated by Laurel, nor Laurel's head office function.

Rikshem and Ikano acquire Telia property from RBS

Rikshem and Ikano Bostad have jointly acquired the property where Telia’s headquarters are located in Farsta, Sweden, from RBS Nordisk Renting. The premises comprise approximately 100,000 square metres. Rikshem and Ikano Bostad plan to develop up to 3,000 homes on the property, of which one third will be rental units. Closing of the transaction will take place on 1 July and the start of construction is planned for 2017-2018.

Hogan Lovells Advises SunEdison on Continuum Wind Acquisition

Hogan Lovells has advised SunEdison, Inc. on the acquisition of Continuum Wind Energy Limited (Continuum) from MSIP International Holdings Cooperatief U.A., a cooperative incorporated in the Netherlands and advised by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure, and Continuum Energy Pte Limited, a company incorporated in Singapore. The transaction signed on Friday, 12 June 2015.

AXA acquires Munich Deka property with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek

AXA Investment Managers Deutschland GmbH (AXA) acquired the "Twenty 8" office building in downtown Munich. A team led by Dr. Peter Zimmermann, partner at the Düsseldorf office of commercial law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, advised AXA on contract design, contract negotiations, and on the transaction. The property was previously part of Deka fund "Westinvest Interselect."
