Deutsche Wohnen AG Acquisition

Simmons & Simmons has advised Deutsche Wohnen AG on the acquisition of a nursing home portfolio from the LebensWerk group. The acquisition comprised both the four nursing homes with a total of 425 place located in Berlin as well as the operating company.

Frankfurt based Deutsche Wohnen AG is the largest listed real estate group in Germany.

Hogan Lovells Advises Aberdeen Asset Management on £27m Student Accommodation Acquisition

Hogan Lovells has advised Aberdeen Asset Management on the £27 million acquisition of a 15-storey student accommodation redevelopment in Nottingham.

Clients of Aberdeen Asset Management acquired the landmark student accommodation and retail development of a former Odeon cinema by way of a full forward funding for £27 million.

Hogan Lovells Advises Schroders on Suffolk Care Home Forward Fundings

Hogan Lovells advised the Schroder UK Property Fund on the development and leasing of five care homes in Suffolk. The deal was signed on 20 December 2012.

Schroders will acquire freehold sites in Framlingham, Haverhill, Mildenhall, Lowestoft and Ipswich from Care UK, who will then redevelop them (with funding from Schroders) as residential care homes and take a 30 year lease to occupy and operate them.

Ashurst advised Warburg - Henderson Kapitalanlagegesellschaft für Immobilien mbH, represented by HIH Hamburgische Immobilien Handlung GmbH, on two property transactions in Coburg and Frankfurt/Main. In Coburg, HIH acquired a commercial property in the city centre on behalf of Warburg - Henderson from the B&L group. The building has an area of almost 5,445 square metres of leased space. The second transaction involved the sale of the high-rise office building, Guiollettstraße 48, in Frankfurt's Westend.

Simmons & Simmons has advised APG Strategic Real Estate Pool ("APG") and GRIP Unit Trust (“GRIP”) on the formation of the GRIP, a real estate fund worth approximately £349.4 million.

APG is Europe's largest pension fund asset manager with €325bn of assets under management. GRIP has been formed by APG and Grainger plc (“Grainger”), the UK’s largest residential property landlord, to acquire the residential property portfolio owned by G:res1 Limited (“G:res”), a UK market-rented residential property fund.
