Leading dedicated private equity and venture capital investor in the Baltics engages in the biogas business

Eversheds Sutherland Bitans team provided legal assistance to Baltcap Infrastructure Fund in the investment of 9,45 million euros in Latvian biogas business.

The fund obtained 75% stake in a joint-venture holding company, and the holding subsequently purchased three biogas companies, which own biogas plants working with the total power of 4,9 MW and two agricultural companies, providing the biogas plants with the necessary raw material.

DLA Piper advises ERG SpA on the acquisition of Windpark Linda from Vortex Energy

DLA Piper has advised the Italian energy company ERG SpA on its acquisition, from Vortex Energy Group, of Windpark Linda GmbH & Co KG, holder of project rights for a 21.6-MW wind project in the district of Wittenberg, Germany, as well as in connection with the associated project development documentation and the construction contract.

The acquisition was made by ERG’s subsidiary in Germany, ERG Windpark Beteiligungs GmbH. The involved parties have agreed to treat the purchase price confidential.

Greenberg Traurig Germany advises Quest on the acquisition of the “Lenzhaus” in Berlin

Berlin, January 18, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig Germany advised Quest Investment Partners (Quest) on the acquisition of the “Lenzhaus” office property in Berlin. It was sold by Barings Real Estate Advisers, who had acquired the property for an individual fund of a German pension fund in 2015. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.

Global law firm Clyde & Co has advised Liberty House, the industrial arm of the GFG Alliance, on its binding offer for Rio Tinto’s aluminium smelter, the largest in Europe, in Dunkirk, France.

If successful, Liberty House's binding offer to acquire the French smelter from Rio Tinto would form GFG’s first significant step into continental Europe. The offer triggers a statutory consultation with employees and other stakeholders.

Baker McKenzie advises Sappi on acquisition of Cham Paper specialty business for approx. CHF 150 Mio

Baker McKenzie advised the South African Sappi Group, one of the world's leading pulp and paper manufacturers, on the acquisition of Cham Paper Group's specialty paper business. The sale comprises an enterprise value of CHF 146.5 million. Shortly before Christmas, the transaction received antitrust approval in Germany. Approval in Austria was obtained today.

DLA Piper advises group of developers on purchase of Old Cook County Hospital

DLA Piper announced today that it counseled a private development team affiliated with Civic Health Development Group (CHDG) in the acquisition, through long-term ground leases, of the Old Cook County Hospital on Chicago's West Side.

The 99-year leases became effective December 31, 2017. They commit the developer to finalizing development and construction plans for the historic building into a combination of residential, retail and office space, through its first phase of redevelopment, with the goal of beginning restoration work in summer 2018.
