Macfarlanes advises Twenty14 Holdings on acquisition of Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian for £85m

Macfarlanes has advised Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment arm of Abu Dhabi-based conglomerate Lulu Group International, on the £85m acquisition of The Caledonian, a Hilton owned and Waldorf Astoria branded hotel in central Edinburgh.

Twenty14 Holdings has a strategy of investing in profitable luxury sites while preserving their historical legacy and plans to invest an additional £20m sensitively renovating and expanding the hotel by a further 50 rooms over the next few years. 

Greenberg Traurig Germany advises Quest on the acquisition of the Lenzhaus in Berlin

Berlin, January 18, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig Germany advised Quest Investment Partners (Quest) on the acquisition of the “Lenzhaus” office property in Berlin. It was sold by Barings Real Estate Advisers, who had acquired the property for an individual fund of a German pension fund in 2015. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.

On 5 January, SCPG Commercial Real Estate Co., Ltd. (“SCPG”) announced that SCPG, China Vanke Co., Ltd (“Vanke”) and Triwater Asset Management Holdings Limited (“Triwater”), through their respective wholly-owned subsidiaries, have reached an agreement with CapitaLand Mall Asia Limited (“CMA”), a wholly owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Limited (“CapitaLand”), to jointly acquire 100% equity and take over corresponding loans of 20 shopping malls at the price of RMB 8.365 billion.

Ashurst advises Aberdeen on purchase of residential project in Erfurt

Ashurst advised Aberdeen Asset Management Deutschland AG (Aberdeen) on the acquisition of the residential project "Wohnen im Brühl" in the German city of Erfurt. Seller of the project which will offer 50 apartments and 60 underground parking spaces on Bonemilchstraße in Erfurt’s Brühlervorstadt district is the Erfurt-based Dr. Ullrich Real Estate GmbH who will also take care of leasing the units adding up to about 4,650 square metres. Dr. Ullrich Real Estate GmbH wants to start construction this summer. Completion is scheduled for Q3 of 2020.

DLA Piper advises Catella Real Estate on its acquisition of a mixed-use property in Moosach, Munich

DLA Piper has advised the Munich-based investment manager, Catella Real Estate AG, on its acquisition of the mixed-use property “Moosach Center” located in Moosach, Munich, for Catella BAVARIA, the open-end mutual real estate AIF. Completed in 2010, the fully let property located directly by Moosach station has a rentable floor space of approximately 7,100 square metres, and is used as office, hotel and retail space.

DLA Piper advises Catella Real Estate on the acquisition of an office property in Stuttgart

DLA Piper has advised Catella Real Estate AG on its acquisition of an office property in Stuttgart for the special fund IWS II, from German Property AS, based in Oslo, Norway. The building in Stuttgart-Feuerbach has office space of approximately 10,600 square metres, and its main tenant is Robert Bosch GmbH.

The second Catella special fund, focussing solely on Southern Germany, manages four properties. Investors in the fund include pension funds, pension-scheme companies and savings banks, and the target equity ratio is 150 million euros.

DLA Piper advises group of developers on purchase of Old Cook County Hospital

DLA Piper announced today that it counseled a private development team affiliated with Civic Health Development Group (CHDG) in the acquisition, through long-term ground leases, of the Old Cook County Hospital on Chicago's West Side.

The 99-year leases became effective December 31, 2017. They commit the developer to finalizing development and construction plans for the historic building into a combination of residential, retail and office space, through its first phase of redevelopment, with the goal of beginning restoration work in summer 2018.
