Herbert Smith Freehills' renewables experts advise Pacific Hydro on the A$115 million project financing of Queensland’s Haughton Solar Farm

Herbert Smith Freehills has acted for Pacific Hydro on the A$115 million project financing for Haughton Solar Farm (Stage 1) in Queensland. The financiers to the project financing were the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the National Australia Bank and Westpac Banking Corporation.

Clifford Chance advises Rabobank and senior lenders on the EKF-backed project financing of the 353 MW Blakliden / Fäbodberget onshore wind farm developed by Vattenfall, Vestas and PKA in Sweden

Clifford Chance Amsterdam has advised Rabobank and the senior lenders on the EKF-backed project financing of the Blakliden / Fäbodberget wind farm in Sweden, utilising a bespoke EKF guarantee structure co-developed by EKF and Rabobank.

The project is being jointly developed by Swedish utility and developer, Vattenfall, alongside Danish turbine-manufacturer Vestas and Danish pension fund PKA. The project will be funded through a mix of equity, mezzanine debt from PKA and Vattenfall and the senior EKF-backed project financing debt.

Gide on Quechen’s greenfield investment project in France

Quechen Silicon Chemical Company, the leader of silica manufacturing in Asia and the owner of the biggest single silica production base in the world, will invest over 100 million euros to build a high-dispersion silica (HDS) manufacturing plant and a research and development centre in Fos on the land of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, the largest industrial port of the Mediterranean region. HDS is an innovative material used as the main component of "green" tyres: it reduces friction and thereby fuel consumption, while enhancing a vehicle’s safety performance.
 

Dentons advises BGK in PLN 140 million financing of a PPP hospital project

Dentons advised Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) on the financing of the building and equipping of a local hospital in Zywiec, southern Poland. The project will be executed in the public-private partnership formula (PPP). The site was contributed by the local authorities, while InterHealth Canada will handle the development and the construction side.

Norton Rose Fulbright SA reaches financial close on biggest solar farm in west Africa

Global law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, has successfully closed the financing facilities on a 50MW solar PV plant in Sikasso, Mali for the first French green Independent Power Producer, Akuo Energy.

The Kita solar farm is its first project to begin construction in Africa and is the largest in west Africa.

Head of Banking and Finance at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, Jackie Midlane, who led on the transaction, said, “We are proud to have played a key role in the region’s most high-profile, innovative transactions.”

Gilbert + Tobin advises Veolia on Australian-first waste-to-energy facility

Gilbert + Tobin has acted for Veolia Environmental Services (Australia) Pty Ltd (Veolia) on a ground-breaking project for a new $450 million waste-to-energy facility in WA – the first of its kind in Australia. Veolia will operate and maintain the facility for a 25-year concession, which will pave the way for future Australian waste-to-energy projects.

Clifford Chance advises Rabobank and EKF on bespoke EKF-backed project financing of the 163.4MW Kråktorpet onshore wind farms in Sweden

A joint team from the Amsterdam and Düsseldorf offices of international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. and the lenders on the EKF-backed project financing of the 163.4MW Kråktorpet (Big Zlatan) onshore wind farms in Sweden.

This transaction marks one the first project financings for onshore wind farms with bespoke EKF guarantee structures in Sweden co developed by Rabobank and EKF, and some of the first international project financings involving Dutch-law governed finance documents.
