BBVA Serves as Administrative Agent in Latin America’s First Green Corporate Loan

New York - Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, represented BBVA, as Administrative Agent, BBVA Bancomer, as Global Coordinator and Green Agent and the lenders in connection with a $400 million Senior Unsecured Green Term Loan Agreement entered into by Iberdrola México, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of the Spanish energy group.  The loan is the first green corporate loan in Latin America.  The proceeds will be used by Iberdrola to finance wind farms and other socially responsible projects in Mexico.

Milbank Advises CELSE on Largest LNG-to-Power Project in Latin America

Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has advised  CELSE – Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe on the financing for the Porto de Sergipe I Thermoelectric Complex. The Project, located in Barra dos Coqueiros in the State of Sergipe, is the largest cross-border energy related transaction in Brazil in recent years and the largest LNG-to-Power deal completed to date in Latin America.

WFW advises ING-led syndicate on financing for world’s first ever LNG-powered aframax tankers for Sovcomflot

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised ING Bank (“ING”), as agent, security trustee and the syndicate of lenders on the US$252m financing of the world’s first ever LNG-powered aframax tankers for leading Russian shipowner Sovcomflot Group (“SCF”).

The six 114,000dwt, ice-class vessels are being built by Hyundai Samho, with two of the vessels to operate under time charter to Shell for up to ten years. Shell will also provide LNG fuel for all six tankers across north-west Europe and the Baltic.

Osborne Clarke advises on Scottish hydro energy funding deal

International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised Aberdeen Standard Investments’ infrastructure debt team on its loan of over £43m to finance six operational hydro-electric schemes in Scotland.

 The hydro schemes are all accredited under the UK Government’s ‘Feed in Tariff’ programme, designed to subsidise and promote renewable energy generation. Participation in this programme ensures a fixed price per megawatt hour for the energy produced, protecting project revenues from fluctuations in electricity prices.

Stephenson Harwood has advised International Bulk Thilawa Terminal Limited (IBTT), a joint venture between Lluvia, a Myanmar agri-processing company and Japan's Kamigumi, an integrated logistics firm, on a loan facility from the International Finance Corporation to develop a US$65 million port project at Thilawa Special Economic Zone in Yangon.  Lluvia's primary stakeholder is Capital Diamond Star Group, a leading Myanmar conglomerate with businesses across a range of sectors including real estate, retail, FMCG, healthcare and financial services.

McCann FitzGerald advises Eriugena consortium on the financial close of the €220m Dublin Institute of Technology Grangegorman Campus

We advised the Macquarie led Eriugena consortium on the financial close on the Dublin Institute of Technology’s Grangegorman Campus. The campus is one of Ireland’s largest educational campus developments financed through a public private partnership (PPP).

The buildings will provide world class facilities for DIT Colleges of Sciences and Health, Arts and Tourism and for the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and will allow the Institute to merge its current 39 locations across the city of Dublin together in one new state of the art campus.
