K&L Gates Advises Kacific Broadband Satellites on US$147 Million Financing of New Satellite Order

Singapore – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has advised Singapore-based Kacific Broadband Satellites Pte Ltd on a US$147 million financing deal for a condominium satellite called “Kacific-1”, which is based on the Boeing 702 satellite platform and will cover 20 Pacific and South East Asian nations.

The satellite is co-owned with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, which will use its half of the payload, JCSAT-18, to provide satellite broadband services to the Far East Russia and Asia-Pacific regions.

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Star Mountain Plaza Limited on a Papua New Guinea Kina 245,000,000 (AU$100.6 million) financing from Bank of South Pacific for the construction and operation of its substantial Star Mountain Plaza development in Port Moresby.

Norton Rose Fulbright acted on all corporate and shareholder arrangements involving a joint venture between three major PNG entities - Mineral Resources Star Mountain, Mineral Resources Ok Tedi and Petroleum Resources Kutubu Limited. The firm also acted on the major construction aspects of the project.

Project Finance experts advise lenders on Kiata Wind Farm project

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised National Australia Bank Limited and Danish export credit agency, EKF Danmarks Eksportkredit on the project financing for the development of the A$84.5 million Kiata Wind Farm project located 50km north west of Horsham, Victoria.

Developed by Windlab, construction of the 30MW, nine turbine wind farm is due to start in early 2017, with first production scheduled towards the end of 2017. When operational, the project is expected to provide enough clean energy for more than 20,000 households each year.

WFW advises lenders on US$1.5bn RBL facility to Chrysaor for North Sea acquisition from Shell

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised a syndicate of banks consisting of DnB, ING, BNP Paribas, Citi and BMO as lenders on a US$1.5bn Reserve-Based Lending Facility to Chrysaor for the acquisition of a portfolio of UK North Sea assets from Royal Dutch Shell (“Shell”). The deal is subject to partner and regulatory approvals, with completion expected in the second half of 2017.
