Dentons advises Canadian Solar on its £36.4 million refinancing of four UK solar power plants

London-Dentons has advised Canadian Solar, the Toronto-based global energy provider and one of the world's largest solar power companies, on its £36.4 million refinancing of four UK solar power plants with a combined capacity of 40.2 MW.  BayernLB is the sole lender and the refinancing takes out short term debt put in place by Investec last year.

Pinsent Masons on £2.6 billion financing of Beatrice offshore wind farm

International law firm Pinsent Masons has advised Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited on the £2.6bn financing and construction procurement of its 588megawatt, 84 turbine wind project located in the Moray Firth.

The project is funded by 13 commercial lenders, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Danish export credit agency Eksport Kredit Fonden as well as SSE Renewables, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and SDIC Power.

Firm Advises MTN Group on USD 114m Equivalent Syndicated Loan in Uganda

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised MTN Uganda on a syndicated loan which will be invested in its network infrastructure, particularly the roll-out of high speed data capacity.

MTN Uganda, the country’s largest telecoms network operator, is a subsidiary of South Africa’s MTN Group, a longstanding client of the firm. The firm advised on UGX 240bn and USD 44m long term syndicated loan arranged by Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and The Standard Bank of South Africa, with foreign banks with local presence participating in the syndication.

International law firm Clifford Chance is advising the Unit Group, a leading power and utility conglomerate, on its ground breaking power projects in Iran.

A team led by Richard Parris, Clifford Chance's Head of Projects & Energy for the Middle East, is advising Unit on the development and financing of six BOO combined-cycle IPPs in Iran, comprising 6020 MW. Unit signed the Energy Conversion Agreements with Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Energy, late last week.

Shearman & Sterling advised Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) on the development and financing of the approximately US$4.3 billion 2,000MW Central Java greenfield coal-fired power project in Indonesia.  The project, located in Batang Regency in Central Java, will be Indonesia’s first ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant and one of the largest coal-fired power plants in Asia.  The shareholders in BPI are Electric Power Development Co.

Leading legal business DWF has advised long-term client Clydesdale Bank PLC on the financing of London-based estate agent Portico’s most recent acquisition.

Portico’s acquisition of east London-based Spencers has taken the estate agent’s total offices up to 20 across London and its headcount up to circa 200 employees. Clydesdale Bank was able to facilitate the acquisition for its long-standing customer with a funding package following advice from DWF, supporting Portico’s main objective to expand its presence in the London real estate market.

ROME (May 24, 2016) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery advised Impresa Pizzarotti, Italy’s fourth major construction company, on the disposal of its energy business division to Holding Fotovoltaica (“HFV”) held by an institutional investor F2i (Fondo Italiano per le Infrastrutture).
