Clifford Chance advises Sazka Group and Italian Gaming Holding in a consortium bid for Italy's national lottery business

Clifford Chance's Prague, Milan, Rome, Warsaw and London offices combined to advise the Sazka Group and Italian Gaming Holding, subsidiaries of Czech lottery operator SAZKA and investment company EMMA CAPITAL, on their successful consortium bid in the lottery concession tender process in Italy and related bank financing. The other consortium members include Lottomatica S.p.A., a subsidiary of International Game Technology PLC, Novomatic Italia S.p.A., and Arianna 2001 S.p.A.

Dudgeon wind farm secures GBP1.3 billion project financing

The developers of one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms announced the limited recourse financing for the project today, having reached financial close in six months.

Allen & Overy’s role was advising the Mandated Lead Arrangers on the GBP1.3 billion long-term financing which will fund the capital requirements of the 402-megawatt (MW) Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, currently under construction 32 kilometres out to sea from the North Norfolk coast of East England.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises Tideway on a £700 million loan from the European Investment Bank for the Thames Tideway Tunnel

International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Tideway on a £700 million loan from the European Investment Bank for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the UK water industry.

The European Investment Bank's backing for the Thames Tideway Tunnel represents its largest-ever loan for water investment worldwide and covers a significant proportion of Tideway's required financing as it moves into the construction phase.

WFW advises on €50m Guadalta refinancing

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) successfully advised Liberbank as agent to the financing consortium on the €50m financial restructuring of two Spanish photovoltaic plants owned by energy producer Guadalta, a subsidiary of leading international energy developer Grupo Naturener.

The two parks, with an aggregated capacity of 7.5 MW, are located in the municipalities of Manzanares and Almuradiel in Ciudad Real province, Spain.

WFW advises ING on US$221m KSURE-backed secured debt financing to Oslo-listed BW LPG

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised ING Bank N.V. (“ING”) as global co-ordinator and a mandated lead arranger on the US$221m KSURE-backed secured debt financing to Oslo-listed BW LPG, in relation to the funding of four VLGC new build vessels.

The consortium of banks led by ING included KFW IPEX-Bank, OCBC and Standard Chartered Bank.  The VLGCs are four in a series of twelve VLGC new build vessels in the order book of BW LPG. The delivery of the first VLGC is scheduled for 9 May 2016.

DLA Piper advises Keolis Downer on Stage 2 of the Gold Coast Light Rail

DLA Piper has advised Keolis Downer Gold Coast Pty Ltd to financial close on Stage 2 of the Gold Coast Light Rail project in Queensland.

Keolis Downer is a joint venture between Keolis Australia Pty Ltd and Downer EDI Rail Pty Ltd.

Since 2011, DLA Piper has been advising Keolis Downer on all phases of Stage 1 of the PPP project – including the bid, financial close, construction and operation phases – and has now advised Keolis Downer to successful financial close on Stage 2.

Pinsent Masons successfully advises UCL on securing £280 million of financing to deliver its 2034 vision

Pinsent Masons, has successfully advised UCL (University College London) on a new £280 million long term facility over 30 years, provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

This round of funding follows an initial £150 million revolving credit facility in March 2015, led by HSBC, alongside Barclays, Lloyds and RBS.

Clifford Chance picks up Used Aircraft Deal of the Year at the 2015 AirFinance Journal Awards

Clifford Chance acted as transaction counsel for DVB Bank SE, N.B.S.A. Limited, Crédit Industriel et Commercial and Showa Leasing Co., Ltd. on the refinancing of 10 used aircraft on lease to Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd.

The transaction was awarded Used Aircraft Deal of the Year at the 2015 AirFinance Journal Awards having closed in less than 30 days, involving parties in multiple jurisdictions.
