Credit Suisse successfully launched its new subsidiary Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd.

Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd. was incorporated with the purpose to be organized as a Swiss bank. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Credit Suisse AG. The transfer of assets and liabilities according to Swiss merger law became effective on 20 November 2016. The transfer was aimed to evolve the legal entity structure of the Credit Suisse Group to meet regulatory requirements for systematically important banks.

DLA Piper to advise on Saudi Arabia's national renewable energy program

DLA Piper has been appointed by the Renewable Energy Project Development Office of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources to advise on round one of its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

The NREP is the official plan for the 9.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy deployment that the Saudi Arabian government announced for Vision 2030, with the interim target of 3.45GW of renewable energy power capacity to be deployed by 2020 under the Kingdom's National Transformation Program.

WFW advising BW Offshore on farm-out agreement for Namibia’s Kudu field

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has been advising BW Offshore on documentation relating to its participation in the Kudu offshore gas field project in Namibia, including its recent acquisition – via its wholly owned subsidiary BW Kudu – of a 56% stake in the Kudu offshore licence.

The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), Namibia’s state-owned oil company, will hold the remaining 44% of the license, and BW Kudu will be the operator. Final investment decision is planned for Q4 2017.

Corona and Cementos Molins Sign Agreement with OHL to Build a Large Cement Plant in Colombia

Baker McKenzie acted as legal counsel to OHL Industrial S.L. and OHL Industrial Colombia S.A.S. in the negotiation of an EPC agreement with the multinational Colombian firm, Corona, and the Spanish cement group, Cementos Molins (via its subsidiary in Colombia, ECOCEMENTOS S.A.S.), to build a new cement plant near Sonsón (Colombia).  The contractors are a division of the OHL Group that is specialised in the engineering and construction of large-scale industrial facilities through this type of contracting.

DLA Piper's planning lawyers advise on Airports National Policy Statement

DLA Piper has advised the UK Department for Transport on its recently announced Airports National Policy Statement (NPS) aimed at dealing with airport capacity issues in South East England and the expansion of London Heathrow Airport. The firm has been advising in this capacity since the publication of the Airports Commissions report in 2015 led by Colin Wilson, DLA Piper's UK Head of Projects.

Green Light from ARENA/ CEFC Regarding Dubbo, Parkes and Griffith

Baker McKenzie are sponsor counsel for Neoen, a French renewable energy company, on three solar projects, located in Dubbo, Parkes and Griffith, worth $230 million in total.

These projects are the first of 12 approved grant applications to reach financial close as part of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency grant funding under its large scale solar program and included a project financing component from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Dentons advises Lucara Diamond Corp. on appointment of new mining contractor in Botswana

Johannesburg—Dentons has advised Lucara Diamond Corp. (Lucara) on its recent appointment of mining contracting company Aveng Moolmans as the new mining contractor at Karowe diamond mine in Botswana.

Under the new appointment, Aveng Moolmans will provide mining services that include all drill, blast, load and haul functions for both ore and waste at the Karowe mine.  Moolmans has been appointed to Karowe diamond mine for a period of six years, with mining activities set to begin in March.

Renewable energy experts advise on first projects to close under large-scale solar programs

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Neoen Australia on the construction, operation and financing, and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) on the project financing, of three solar farms in New South Wales, with a total project cost in excess of A$230 million.

The three projects are the first with debt financing to reach financial close under the CEFC’s A$250 million large-scale solar program and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA) A$92 million large-scale solar round.
