DLA Piper advises Tidal Lagoon Power on Swansea Bay

DLA Piper has advised leading tidal power company Tidal Lagoon Power on the pioneering Swansea Bay tidal power project in Wales, which is set to be the world's first tidal lagoon power plant.

Planning partner Howard Bassford led the team advising on the project, which is set to be the world's first tidal lagoon power plant, following the independent review by former energy minister Charles Hendry. DLA Piper advised on the consenting and real estate aspects of the proposal, putting together the case for the grant of development consent in relation to the project.

The reorganization was necessary to realize growth opportunities in the ebook market and further efficiency improvements. In this connection, Deutsche Telekom AG sold the technology platform for tolino to the new technology partner, Japanese-Canadian company Rakuten Kobo.
 

Dentons advises Polimex-Mostostal in negotiations with ENEA Wytwarzanie concerning the construction of a new energy unit in Kozienice

Lawyers from Dentons' Warsaw office advised Polimex-Mostostal, acting in consortium with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe, on the negotiation of an annex to extend the deadline for the construction of a 1075 MW critical energy unit in Enea Wytwarzanie-Elektrownia Kozienice power plant in Poland.

The project was coordinated by Tomasz Janas, Partner in Energy and Natural Resources practice team, supported by Michal Drozdowicz, Counsel in Public Procurement practice team, and Malgorzata Bluszcz-Riccardi, Senior Associate in Energy and Natural Resources practice team.

Ashurst represents Thailand's state-owned PTT Trading in US$600 million oil-backed contract

International law firm Ashurst acted for PTT Trading, the trading arm of Thailand's leading state-owned energy firm PTT, as buyer on a five-year US$600 million oil-backed contract with PetroEcuador, Ecuador's state-run oil company.

Jean Woo, the lead lawyer on the transaction said, "This is a significant step in the growth of PTT Trading's trading business, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to support the company on this transaction."

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) on its new solar farm at Clare in Queensland.

Herbert Smith Freehills advised FRV on all aspects of the transaction including engineering, procurement and construction, project financing, off-take and land access arrangements.

The 100 MW Clare solar farm is FRV’s largest project to date in Australia and will generate more electricity than any other solar project built to date in Australia due to its size and single axis tracking technology.

DLA Piper has advised leading Out of Home media company Ocean Outdoor on the milestone upgrade of the iconic Piccadilly lights site in London, owned by Land Securities.

Real Estate partner Paul Jayson advised Ocean Outdoor on commercial and real estate matters arising from the project, which will see the current screens replaced with a single state-of-the-art LED digital screen and live technology hub. A number of global brands including Coca-Cola Great Britain and Samsung have already announced their commitment to the site.
