Cadwalader successfully advised marketplace lending platform, Funding Circle, in its partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to provide £100 million (US$146 million) of new funding to SMEs in the UK. The loans will be originated through the Funding Circle platform.

This investment, alongside £25 million from the Funding Circle SME Income Fund, will provide a further injection of funding into the UK small and medium-sized business sector over the next several years.

Linklaters advised Ardian in its joint venture with Rabbalshede Kraft, independent Swedish producer of clean energy, to invest in a 76 MW wind farm in Mariestad and Töreboda in Sweden, one of the regions best suited for onshore wind farm construction in Europe.

The project is 75% owned by Ardian and 25% by Rabbalshede Kraft.

In pursuit of its goal of powering all of its activities with renewable energy, Google has already signed a long-term purchase agreement for all of the energy produced by the wind farm. It will also sell Renewable Energy Certificates.

Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier advised Airbus Group on the second phase of the creation with Safran of their 50/50 joint-venture Airbus Safran Launchers (ASL). Airbus Group was also advised by Clifford Chance and CMS Francis Lefebvre.

As part of the first phase, Airbus Group and Safran formed a joint company by bringing together their respective civil program contracts and major participations related to civil launcher activities.

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised China's State Grid International Development Limited on its joint venture with Rosseti OAO, Russia's largest power transmission and distribution company. State Grid is the largest utility company in the world, and has been ranked seventh in the Fortune Global 500 for five consecutive years since 2011.

The deal is in line with China's 'One Belt One Road' initiative, with the joint venture spearheading investment efforts in the construction of electric grid infrastructure and new power capacity in Russia. 

Global law firm Clyde & Co has advised Fortune 500-listed property developer, Greenland Group, on its joint venture with Guangzhou-based Chinese developer Golden Horse for their proposed AUD 1.6 billion seven-hectare residential development project in Erskineville's Ashmore precinct in Sydney, Australia.

Oilseeds and proteins operator Avril has joined forces with Israeli start-up BioPolymer Technologies (BPT) and the ‘SPI - Sociétés de Projets Industriels’ fund, managed by Bpifrance Investissement with the object of investing in projects to develop French industry as part of the ‘PIA’ future investments programme, in order to produce a resin additive from rapeseed meal through a new joint venture, Evertree. With start-up capital of €24M, Evertree is to receive contributions totalling €72M over four years.

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW“) advised Pietro Barbaro S.p.A., a leading Italian shipping group, on the establishment of its joint venture (“JV”) with Russian energy giant Rosneft, through its subsidiary RN-International projects.

The agreement was signed in St. Petersburg by Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and Pietro Barbaro Group owner Giovanni Barbaro in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

King & Wood Mallesons is advising Australia's largest provider of medical oncology, Icon Group on a joint venture with Yibai Healthcare to run radiation oncology centres in China.

Icon entered into an agreement with China's Yibai Healthcare which is part of the Shanghai-listed GuiZhou YiBai Pharmaceutical company. Yibai raised approximately $500 million to establish the new cancer centres over two years.

Quadrant Private Equity owns 55% of Icon, the group’s clinicians own the remainder.

YIT Corporation, Etera Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Onvest Oy, and Fennia Mutual Insurance Company completed on 22 June 2016 a transaction under which the parties created a joint venture for the implementation of the Mall of Tripla and its parking facilities. A consortium consisting of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), Danske Bank, and Handelsbanken granted the project 10-year project credits amounting to a total of approximately EUR 300 million, which will finance half of the construction of the Mall of Tripla.
