Mills & Reeve have advised an independent sector pathology provider on its successful bid to partner with world renowned cancer specialist trust The Christie.

Synlab, a leading provider of pathology services across Europe, has entered into partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The Christie is a leading expert in cancer treatment and research and the agreement will see a new jointly owned venture provide pathology services to The Christie.

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's life sciences team has advised Netherlands and Belgium-based biopharmaceutical company arGEN-X on its first collaboration with Bayer to discover and develop therapeutic antibody candidates and on a strategic alliance with Shire. Both deals were completed in the same week.

arGEN-X is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on creating and developing differentiated therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of cancer and severe autoimmune diseases.

London – Hogan Lovells is advising Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) on its entry into of a global joint venture between Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc., itself a joint venture between MHI, Hitachi and IHI Corporation, and Siemens, in the field of metals machinery technology.

Baker & McKenzie advised Giesecke & Devrient on a joint venture with the Bundesdruckerei (Federal Printing Agency). With the new joint venture under the name Veridos GmbH, the partners are bundling their international business with solutions for secure identification, such as passport and ID card systems for governments. The new company is to be headquartered in Berlin. Bundesdruckerei and Giesecke & Devrient will, however, continue to independently pursue business in Germany, their business activities on the private sector market and in banknote printing.

Ashurst has acted for Sojitz Coal Mining (Sojitz) in a proposed joint venture between Sojitz and U&D Mining Industry (Australia) Pty Ltd (U&D) and Endocoal Pty Ltd (EOC) for the development of the Meteor Downs South (MDS) project in central Queensland.

U&D and Sojitz on 16 May 2014 signed an agreement for a proposed 50/50 joint venture and farm-in agreement in relation to U&D's MDS project.

Linklaters has advised Bundesdruckerei GmbH on the formation of a joint venture with Giesecke & Devrient GmbH. The new joint venture will operate under the name Veridos GmbH and bundle both partners’ international business with solutions for secure identification, such as passport and ID card systems for governments. Bundesdruckerei will hold a 40% share in Veridos and G&D a 60% share.

Eversheds advised on TeliaSonera acquisition of a stake in Zound Industries, enabling the telecom operator to bundle fashion headphones, audio speakers and device accessories together with their mobile telecommunications.

The partnership will give TeliaSonera access to all four of Zound Industries’ brands and also access to their network of designers, collaboration partners and artists. Accessories from Zound Industries are today sold in 20,000 stores across 95 markets.

Clifford Chance has advised the Abdul Latif Jameel group (ALJ) on the establishment of a strategic real estate joint venture with Emaar Properties PJSC. The Saudi focused joint venture, to be named Emaar Jameel, will develop integrated property projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia covering the commercial, residential, leisure and retail sectors.

Hogan Lovells have completed their fifth major real estate investment transaction for Healthcare Of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) in four years; advising HOOPP on a joint venture with Helical Bar to develop One Mitre Square, London EC3 (to be renamed Creechurch Place).  The joint venture is taking a 155 year lease of the site from the City Corporation.

Ince & Co Singapore represented The Warranty Group (TWG) in its joint venture with TVS Automobile Solutions Limited (TVS). The joint venture company (based in India) will offer extended warranties and related services and solutions throughout India, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
