Leith Theatre Trust secures lease on Leith theatre with help from Shoosmiths

The Edinburgh real estate team of Shoosmiths has provided pro-bono advice to the Leith Theatre Trust on the lease of the Leith Theatre complex in Edinburgh.

Leith Theatre Trust was established in 2004 as a community trust to examine the options for the re-use of the theatre complex. As part of the deal with Edinburgh City Council the trust plans to lead efforts to carry out a multi-million pound refurbishment which will revive the 1000 capacity arena and offer rehearsal and workshop space to local artists.

Derwent London turns to Macfarlanes on major pre-let of The Copyright Building, W1

Macfarlanes has advised property investor and developer Derwent London on the pre-letting of the entire office element of The Copyright Building, 30 Berners Street W1 to Capita Business Services Limited (Capita).

Capita has agreed to take 87,150 sq ft, comprising the ground floor reception of 1,500 sq ft and office floors one to seven.  Capita will be taking a 20-year lease with no breaks, at an average office rent of £86 psf.  The Copyright Building is located in Fitzrovia and in addition to the office space includes 20,000 sq ft of A1/A3 retail.

Irwin Mitchell Advises Gravity On Third Trampoline Park

Yorkshire-based Gravity Fitness expects its latest indoor trampoline park to be open and ready for business by April this year after signing up to a 15 year lease at Riverside Entertainment in Norwich.

The Bridlington leisure company has agreed a lease for a 30,693 sq ft (2,851 sq m) site and has confirmed it is on the lookout for additional spaces in other high footfall locations.

Its other sites are at Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre in Maidstone and Xscape in Castleford.

Slaughter and May advised Legal & General - acquisition and leaseback of a portfolio of 7 public houses with Marston's Estates Limited

Slaughter and May advised Legal & General on the acquisition and leaseback of a portfolio of 7 public houses with Marston's Estates Limited for a total purchase price of £25.32 million. The leases to Marston's are for a 40-year term. The portfolio is comprised of two long leasehold and five freehold public houses, the majority of which are newly built. There are options for the properties to be bought back from Legal & General on expiry of the leases. Shoosmiths LLP advised Marston's.

Atlassian has rented Herengracht 205/ Singel 236 in Amsterdam for its new European headquarters. NautaDutilh's Real Estate team assisted Atlassian in the realization of the rental agreement and contracts with the architect and contractor.

Bebloem Onroerend Goed Exploitatiemaatschappij is the owner of the property, which is managed by Cocon Vastgoed Management.
 
Atlassian is a software developer and ICT company that was established in Australia in 2002 and has 1.400 employees worldwide.
 

King & Wood Mallesons advises Mazabi Gestión de Patrimonios on the acquisition of two hotels in Málaga and Ibiza

King & Wood Mallesons has advised Mazabi Gestión de Patrimonio on the acquisition of two hotels, the Iberostar Santa Eulalia, located in the Ibizan town of S'Argamassa, and Iberostar Costa del Sol, Málaga, which will open next year.

The deal, valued at €60 million, includes the acquisition of both properties and the subsequent lease agreements of both complexes to the Iberostar Group, who will manage and operate both hotels.

Shoosmiths advises Krispy Kreme UK on largest UK store

National law firm Shoosmiths' real estate team has advised long-standing client, global doughnut company, Krispy Kreme UK, on the opening of its largest UK store at Braehead, just outside Glasgow.

The doughnut giant's new premises - which includes a drive-thru - is unique in that it is based in the former Clydebuilt Scottish Maritime Museum.

Shoosmiths has provided real estate advice to Third Space Group on a new lease of 46,922 sq ft at the former North London mail centre in Islington.

Third Space Group currently offer state-of-the-art training spaces and a range of specialist fitness classes at their two private members clubs in Soho and Marylebone. They plan to open a new health and fitness club in Islington Square.

Rail sector experts from Burges Salmon have advised Groundwork Wakefield in connection with the completion of the lease to it of Wakefield Kirkgate railway station from Network Rail.

Groundwork Wakefield raised £4.6 million in 2013 for the ‘transformation’ of Wakefield Kirkgate station, which was named one of the "worst in Britain" in 2009 by the then transport secretary Lord Adonis.
