Taylor Wessing Middle East advises Mediaquest on acquisition of AME Info FZ-LLC

Taylor Wessing Middle East has advised leading regional media business, Mediaquest, on its acquisition of the AME Info and SME Info websites, two of the leading business outlets for news and information in the Middle East and North Africa region from AME Info FZ-LLC, owned by Top Right Group.

The Taylor Wessing Middle East team was led by recently arrived corporate finance partner, Tahir Ahmed, with assistance from associates, Melissa Forbes and Sanjanaa Chindalia.

Ashurst advises on £935 million acquisition of Vue Entertainment

Ashurst advised Canadian private equity buyer Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) on its acquisition with OMERS Private Equity of Vue Entertainment from Doughty Hanson.

Global head of corporate, Stephen Lloyd, is leading the Ashurst team, assisted by senior associate Nicola Burke and associate Lucy Phillips. Clifford Chance advised Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), Glenview (Illinois/USA), on its takeover of the Meurer-Group, Fürstenau (Germany). ITW acquired all shares in Meurer Verpackungssysteme GmbH and in Meurer Elektro- und Steuerungstechnik GmbH (including four subsidiaries). The consummation of the transaction is subject to its approval by the Federal Cartel Office.

SH advises BTG plc on $220 million acquisition of EKOS Corporation

International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised BTG plc, a FTSE-250 international specialist pharmaceutical company, on its $220 million (£147 million) acquisition of EKOS Corporation (EKOS), an interventional vascular business, headquartered in Seattle, US. In what has been a very important day for BTG plc, the company has also agreed to buy the targeted therapies division of Nordion Inc for $200 million (£133 million), and undertaken a £100 million cashbox placing, highlighting significant expansion for the company within the global pharmaceutical market.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises on Norbert Dentressangle acquisition in first transaction for German offices

Herbert Smith Freehills Germany has completed its first transaction since the firm opened offices in Frankfurt and Berlin last month, advising transport, logistics and freight forwarding company Norbert Dentressangle on its acquisition of Fiege's logistics operations in Italy, Spain and Portugal.

The all-cash financed deal, which was signed on 24 May 2013, will enable Norbert Dentressangle to rapidly increase its critical mass in southern Europe and strengthen the company's market leadership in the European logistics market.
