Leading international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised UAE banking group Emirates NBD on its acquisition of a 95.2% stake in BNP Paribas Egypt. In line with Emirates NBD’s plans for regional expansion, the deal will greatly expand the bank’s corporate and retail offering and give it a strategic presence in the key Egyptian banking market

Ashurst advises ARMZ on A$2.7b acquisition of Uranium One

Ashurst has advised one of the world's largest uranium mining companies, Russian state-owned JSC Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), on the acquisition of Uranium One, Inc. (U1).

Under the Canadian Plan of Arrangement, ARMZ will acquire all of the common shares in U1 that ARMZ and its affiliates do not already own, taking its ownership of U1 from 51.4% to 100%. Following this U1 will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The implied value of U1 is A$2.7 billion and consideration paid to minority shareholders is A$1.25 billion.

Deals Fuel Growth At Ambitious Packaging Firm

The Sheffield office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has helped Rotherham-based Cepac Limited, a leading UK supplier of corrugated and retail ready packaging, on its three acquisitions of complementary packaging businesses.

The complex series of deals includes the completion of the acquisition of DS Smith’s corrugated packaging operation in Darlington, formerly known as SCA Branded Packaging.  The 130-strong workforce in Darlington transferred to Cepac on completion of the deal on 31 December.

Olswang helps Gamesys Group on Virgin Games acquisition

Olswang has advised the Gamesys Group, one of the UK's leading online gaming groups, on its acquisition of Virgin Games.  As well as agreeing to acquire certain key assets of the Virgin Games business, the Gamesys Group secured a long term exclusive right to use the Virgin brand in connection with online gaming and the ever expanding social gaming market. 

SNR Denton Advises Buyers on Purchase of Iconic Saville Row Tailor Huntsman

London, 11 January 2013 – SNR Denton has advised designer Roubi L'Roubi and his business partner, Pierre Lagrange, on the purchase of bespoke Saville Row tailor Huntsman.

Huntsman, a 163-year-old business which has created costumes for Downton Abbey and dressed the likes of Humphrey Bogart and Sir Winston Churchill, was sold by private investors who have owned the brand since 2005. L’Roubi and Lagrange will become co-owners, with L’Roubi also taking on the role of new Creative Director.
