PARTNER MOVES - Paul Hastings welcomes premier tech-focused IP litigation team in Silicon Valley and Washington

In a move that further enhances its top-of-market global IP practice, Paul Hastings LLP announced that a premier six-partner team of IP litigators, including Shamita Etienne-Cummings, Lisa Nguyen, Eric Lancaster, James Gagen, and Grace Wang is joining the firm. Etienne-Cummings and Gagen will be based in Washington, D.C., while Nguyen and Lancaster will be located in Palo Alto, and Wang will be in New York. The sixth partner will join in Washington, D.C.

PARTNER MOVES - Gregory Williams and Richard Smith join Sidley’s litigation and global arbitration, trade and advocacy practices

Sidley is pleased to announce that Gregory Williams and Richard Smith have joined the firm as partners in the Litigation practice group. They will be based in Sidley’s Washington D.C. office.

Mr. Williams will serve as a co-leader of the firm’s Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy Practice. He joins from Wiley Rein LLP’s Global Disputes practice where he previously held the position of head of the Global Disputes practice and was a member of its Management Committee. Mr. Smith also joins from Wiley Rein LLP, where he was the co-chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation group.

Baker McKenzie strengthens Banking & Finance practice with Dr Conrad Ruppel, who joins Baker McKenzie's Frankfurt office as Financial Regulatory Partner from Ashurst.

Conrad is a financial market regulatory expert, who advises national and international financial service providers, banks, fund managers, custodians and institutional investors. His practice covers investment and banking supervisory law, including outsourcing, IT risks, sustainability/ESG, as well as advising on money laundering law. A particular focus of his work is on FinTech and digital assets projects.

Most recently a partner at Wilson Sonsini, he brings a decade-plus of in-house leadership experience at tech, life sciences and consumer brand companies. 

Josh brings a high-growth operator’s perspective to working with founders and company leadership at venture-backed companies as they scale, often serving as the company’s primary outside counsel from early-stage financing through exit.

PARTNER MOVES - Blake Morgan expands banking and finance offering

Law firm Blake Morgan has appointed Oliver Storey-Harris as a new partner within the firm’s highly ranked and well-respected Banking and Finance team.

Oliver brings with him over 15 years of experience. He has a strong background in banking and finance, and his appointment will help to further strengthen the firm’s expertise in the London financing market.

He joins the firm’s London office from his previous role as a partner in the London market, advising on borrower-side debt financing, public and private M&A, financial restructuring and other transactions.

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome environmental transactions attorney Andrew Westgate as a partner in the Project & Energy practice in New York.

Westgate focuses his practice on carbon credits and other environmental credits, including regulatory advice, commercial contracts and bespoke structures for investment in the carbon space. He regularly advises on project development and carbon credit generation for carbon offset, carbon removal and carbon capture and sequestration projects.
