Mayer Brown advises Velocys plc on £52 million equity fundraising

Mayer Brown has advised AIM listed Velocys plc, the company at the forefront of smaller scale gas-to-liquids (GLT), on its equity fundraising of £52 million by way of a placing.

Velocys will use the proceeds of the placing to further accelerate the adoption of the company’s technology following announcement of its first commercial project.

White & Case LLP is advising GDF SUEZ subsidiary and leading engineering company Tractebel Engineering on the acquisition of Germany-based Lahmeyer, specializing in energy and water infrastructure.

Upon completion of the project, the group will become a leading world player in consultancy engineering services specialized in energy and infrastructure, with a staff of 4,400 experts, a local presence in 34 countries and €600 million in expected annual revenues.

Eversheds advises on UK wind farm project

Eversheds has advised energy company RWE Innogy UK Limited, in obtaining consent for the construction and operation of Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm in North Wales.

The wind farm will consist of up to 32 turbines connected to an onsite substation, and will have the capacity to generate up to 96 megawatts of electrical output. The size of the project means that it was classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (“NSIP”), which required a ‘development consent order’ under procedures governed by the Planning Act 2008.

Shearman & Sterling acted as designated lenders’ counsel in connection with the $600 million bridge financing for Gasoducto Sur Peruano S.A.’s southern gas pipeline project in Peru. The bridge financing is expected to be taken out by a $3.8 billion project financing. This financing is expected to be one of the largest non-recourse financings in the region.
