WFW advises Enterprize Energy on Taiwanese offshore wind joint ventures with Mitsui

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Enterprize Energy Pte. Ltd. (“EEPL”) on its strategic joint venture investment agreements in the Taiwanese offshore wind sector with Japan’s Mitsui & Co (“Mitsui”). As part of the agreements, Mitsui has acquired a 50% stake in EEPL subsidiary Yushan Energy Company Ltd (“YECL”), which owns a 40% interest in the Hai Long offshore wind development in the Taiwan Strait between that Island and mainland China.

Calgary—Global law firm Dentons has advised Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge Inc. (TSX, NYSE: ENB) (Enbridge or the Company) on the monetization of a 49 percent interest in select North American onshore renewable power assets, as well as 49 percent of Enbridge's interests in two German offshore wind projects (Hohe See, and related expansion) through a newly created joint venture with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) to CPPIB, for approximately CAD$1.75 billion.

Petróleos Mexicanos Issues CHF365 Million Offering

Cleary Gottlieb represented long-time client Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the Mexican state oil company, in its CHF365 million offering of 1.750 percent notes due 2023, which closed on June 4, 2018.

The securities were issued under Pemex’s medium-term notes program.

BNP Paribas (Suisse) SA and UBS AG acted as joint managers. The securities were listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.

While the foregoing shareholders have divested all their holdings in the company, MET Group managers will participate via a share program through MET ManCo AG for up to 20%. Baker McKenzie has advised MET Group on the legal structuring as well as the acquisition financing aspects of this transaction which closed on 29 May 2018.

Eversheds Sutherland has acted for Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries on its £216m acquisition of UK Power Reserve (UKPR) from Equistone Partners Europe, Inflexion Private Equity and UKPR management.

The acquisition of UKPR, which owns and operates a portfolio of distributed generation projects across 32 locations in England and Wales, will considerably increase Sembcorp’s ability to build an integrated energy business in the UK.
