Bär & Karrer Successful in Large Arbitration Proceeding

Bär & Karrer successfully defends the interests of its long standing client EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG in a CHF 1 billion ad hoc-arbitration proceeding in Zurich instituted by a German entrepreneur four years ago. In its final award, the tribunal dismissed the plaintiff's claim in its entirety and awarded Bär & Karrer's client full compensation for its legal costs.

Bär & Karrer's team was led by Matthew Reiter and included Cinzia Catelli, Alain Grieder, Roman Huber and David Liatowitsch.

Norsepower - Rotor Propulsion System for Maersk Tanker

We represented Norsepower Oy, a Finnish clean-technology and engineering company, in a joint project with Maersk Tankers, Shell Shipping & Maritime and the UK’s Energy Technologies Institute.

The joint project involves the installation and trial of Norsepower’s ground-breaking wind rotor propulsion system on one of Maersk’s product tanker vessels and is set to demonstrate the benefits of Norsepower’s technology on global shipping routes. The joint project will assist Norsepower in expanding its business internationally.

Eversheds Sutherland advised Cortus Energy

Eversehds Sutherland advised Cortus Energy in connection with a long term agreement with Höganäs AB on renewable energy gas and other energy products. The agreement includes planning and preparation for building a six MW WoodRoll facility in Höganäs’ industrial area, in which biomass will be gasified to energy gas. The cooperation is an important and groundbreaking step towards using renewable energy gas in industrial processes in Sweden.

AEE Power finances solar power plant in Nigerian province of Nasarawa

Infratil Sells Down its 19.91% Stake in Metlifecare Limited to Forsyth Barr Limited for $237.93 Million

Baker McKenzie and Buddle Findlay acted for Infratil in its sell down of its 19.91% stake in Metlifecare Limited to Forsyth Barr Limited, for the total amount of $237.93 million.  Buddle Findlay engaged Baker McKenzie to advise on the overseas law aspects (Metlifecare Limited is a New Zealand company with its primary listing on NZX).

Baker McKenzie lead partner, Guy Sanderson stated: "We were delighted to act for Infratil in what was a significant transaction completed in a tight timeframe."
