Clifford Chance advises Amundi Real Estate on the acquisition of the "Rocket Tower" in Berlin

Clifford Chance advised an open fund managed by Amundi Real Estate on the acquisition of the "Rocket Tower" in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Amundi was joined by L‘Etoile Properties, who will henceforth act as property manager. The seller of the high-quality office building is a fund managed by JP Morgan Asset Management.

Nabarro advises Galliard on property crowdfunding platform

Nabarro has advised Galliard Homes on arrangements for the launch of its new crowdfunding platform. For the first time, multiple investors can now collaborate to buy shares in a limited company which will own Galliard properties.

The new crowdfunding platform has been set up by The Property Club, a subsidiary of Galliard, and requires a minimum investment of £5000.

Cross border KWM team secures major win in construction arbitration case

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) secured a major victory for First Qatar Real Estate, a developer owned by Kuwaiti Royals, in a USD100 million construction arbitration case seated in Doha, Qatar.

The arbitration related to the construction of one of the largest hotel projects in Qatar, with the counterparty initiating proceedings under the 2012 Arbitration Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – a claim which was successfully resisted by KWM on jurisdiction grounds. 

Dentons assists Matis S.p.A. on its debt restructuring

Dentons assisted Matis S.p.A., a company operating in the real estate sector, on the restructuring of its debt through an agreement with Aareal Bank, and a recovery plan based on the Italian Bankruptcy Law. The value of the deal amounted to approx. €40 million.

Senior Counsel Cristian Fischetti led the deal.

Matis owns a first class property located in Verona and named “Palazzo delle Poste”.

WFW advises RAL on development of NYC Union Square Tech Hub

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised RAL Development Services (“RAL”) on its pre-development agreement and ground lease with the City of New York to build and develop the new Union Square Tech Hub, a US$250m project to provide a state-of the-art 250,000 square foot facility for tech worker training, flexible workspaces and meeting spaces.  The hub will be located at 124 East 14th Street.

DLA Piper advises Catella Real Estate on the acquisition of retail park in Nuremberg

DLA Piper has advised Catella Real Estate AG on the acquisition of a fourth property for its special fund "IWS II – Wirtschaftsregion Süddeutschland" (IWS II): a retail park of approximately 8,500 square metres in Nuremberg, currently 100% let on a long-term basis. The tenants include Aldi, dm, McFit and catering company Asia Palace, amongst others. The seller is a property-holding company of the P&P Group from Fürth.

Mayer Brown advises British Land on sale of The Leadenhall Building for £1.15 billion

Mayer Brown has advised British Land on the sale of The Leadenhall Building for a headline price of £1.15 billion to C C Land, the Hong-Kong listed property development company.

British Land and Oxford Properties, the global real estate arm of OMERS, developed and own The Leadenhall Building, also known as the 'Cheesegrater', as an investment in a 50/50 joint venture formed in 2010. Construction of the tower started in early 2011 and completed in summer 2014.
