DLA Piper advises on landmark Step Change contract

In a ground-breaking step forward for Scotland, DLA Piper has advised on the £264 million Step Change (Rest of Scotland) agreement which aims to deliver significant improvements in broadband services for Scotland.

Step Change is a next generation access (NGA) broadband project procured under the DCMS Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) Framework. It aims to deliver the Scottish Government's interim Digital Scotland objectives, building towards a world class broadband infrastructure by 2020.

Osborne Clarke advises Seven Technologies on £7 million acquisition

Osborne Clarke’s Corporate team has advised engineering specialist Seven Technologies on its £7m takeover of AIM listed Datong.

Datong is a leading provider of intelligence equipment and solutions.

Seven’s acquisition of Datong will create one of the sector’s largest independent specialist technology engineering businesses with a turnover in excess of £20m and 140 employees.

The Osborne Clarke team advising Seven was led by Partner Matthew Lewis, supported by Associate Director Mark Wesker and Senior Associate Simon Jones.

Simmons & Simmons Advises Telefónica UK on £1.2 billion Landmark Outsourcing to Capita

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised Telefónica UK on its landmark contact centre outsourcing to Capita, including on the related real estate, employment, pensions, finance and tax issues.

The £1.2 billion deal, which came into effect on 01 July 2013 with a term of 10 years, is one of the largest private sector contact centre outsourcings in Europe to date and the largest deal of its kind ever entered into by Telefónica UK.

Ericsson - acquisition of Red Bee Media

Slaughter and May is advising Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (PUBL), a world-leading provider of communications technology and services, on its acquisition of Red Bee Media, a world leading media services company, from an entity controlled by Macquarie Advanced Investment Partners, L.P.

The acquisition, which was announced on 1 July 2013, is subject to regulatory approval and other contractual conditions.
