Norton Rose Fulbright acts in multi-billion dollar Myanmar telecoms rollout

Norton Rose Fulbright has been appointed as lead international counsel to support Ooredoo (formerly Qatar Telecom) in the greenfields deployment of a multi-billion dollar mobile telecoms network in Myanmar (Burma). The project is one of the leading telecoms projects in the world at present.

Ooredoo is one of only two foreign telecoms companies recently awarded a new Nationwide Telecommunications Licence in Myanmar as the country accelerates its development and liberalisation plans.

Osborne Clarke is acting for The Times of India Group on sale of Absolute Radio to Bauer Media

Osborne Clarke is acting for the owner of Absolute Radio, The Times of India Group, on its proposed disposal of Absolute Radio to Bauer Media, subject to regulatory approval. Bauer Media currently owns several other radio stations, including the popular UK stations Kiss and Magic.

The Times of India is part of Bennett, Coleman and Co. Limited, India’s largest media group.

Osborne Clarke’s team is led by Partner Adrian Bott who is assisted by Associates Jenny Reid and Matt Hall.

Linklaters advises Funke Media Group on purchase of Axel Springer newspaper and magazine portfolio

Düsseldorf, 25 July 2013. Linklaters has advised the Funke Media Group, which until the end of 2012 was known as WAZ Media Group, on its acquisition of a portfolio of regional newspapers, TV and women’s magazines from Axel Springer AG for a purchase price of EUR 920 million. In addition, the two groups have agreed on the setting up of joint enterprises for the marketing of advertising and print and online media. The transaction is subject to merger and antitrust clearance, which is not expected before the end of the year.

We have advised London Stock Exchange listed Sepura plc on its acquisition of Portalify Oy, a Helsinki based software solutions developer.

Initial cash consideration of €1 million was paid on completion and contingent consideration of up to €6 million will be payable in cash if Portalify achieves revenue and operating profit targets over the three years to 30 June 2016.

The capital markets team has advised long-standing technology client Transense Technologies PLC in relation to a c.£5 million fundraising by way of an initial placing, an offer for subscription (Offer) made to existing shareholders, and a further placing. The initial placing raised gross proceeds of c.£3.2 million and the Offer raised a further £1.05 million. Due to an extremely strong response for shareholders, the Offer was substantially oversubscribed.

Nabarro has acted for new client Publicis, one of the world's largest advertising and communications agencies, turning around a deal in just five weeks to agree pre-lets on two central London properties being redeveloped by Derwent London. The deal consolidates the extensive property holdings of Publicis in Charlotte Street and allows them to take an option over an additional building, Asta House.
