Gowling WLG acts on £111 million equity investments in Gigaclear plc

Gowling WLG's corporate team has acted for established client, Gigaclear plc, on aggregate of £111 million of equity investments to expand its provision of ultrafast fibre-to-the-premises networks to rural communities. Gigaclear plc is focused on bringing ultrafast pure fibre broadband direct to rural communities in the UK. Since the beginning of 2017, Gigaclear plc has further strengthened its pipeline of 'Broadband Delivery UK' ("BDUK") projects.

Simpson Thacher Represents Initial Purchasers in US$469.2 Million Offering of Global Depositary Shares by GlobalWafers

The Firm recently represented the initial purchasers, Nomura and Citi, in connection with the US$469.2 million offering of global depositary shares by GlobalWafers Co., Ltd. The offering was led by Nomura as sole global coordinator and Nomura and Citi as joint bookrunners, and conducted in reliance upon Regulation S under the Securities Act of 1933.

GlobalWafers is a leading global silicon wafer manufacturer based in Taiwan, and its shares are listed on Taiwan’s GreTai Securities Market.

Setterwalls advises Integrum AB (publ) in connection with its IPO on Nasdaq First North

Macfarlanes advises 17Capital on raising Fund 4

Macfarlanes has advised investment firm 17Capital LLP on the raising of its fourth fund (17Capital Fund 4), which hit its extended hard cap and closed with commitments of over €1bn.

This new fund will continue the established and distinct investment strategy of 17Capital’s predecessor funds by providing highly-flexible preferred equity to private equity investors and sponsors.

17Capital Fund 4 held its final close with an international base of institutional investors just six months after its initial closing.

Milbank Advises Banking Consortium on EUR 2.5 Billion Financing for the Takeover of Drillisch AG by United Internet

Frankfurt, May 12, 2017 – The international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has advised an international banking consortium on the financing of the voluntary public tender offer to the shareholders of Drillisch AG by United Internet AG. The deal volume amounts to EUR 2.5 billion.

ING Life Korea Lists for US$977 Million

Paul Hastings LLP announced today that the firm represented the underwriters in ING Life Insurance Korea Ltd’s (“ING Life Korea”) US$977 million Korea Exchange listing. ING Life Korea, controlled by Asia-based private equity firm MBK Partners, is South Korea’s fifth-largest insurer based on assets.

This marks the second largest IPO so far in 2017 in Korea and the first time a private equity firm has used an initial public offering to begin its exit process in Korea.

Advantage Partners Completes ¥60 Billion Fundraising for Fifth Japan Buyout Fund Series

Simpson Thacher represented Advantage Partners in the formation of the fifth Japan buyout fund series served by Advantage Partners. The final closing was held on April 30, 2017 at its hard cap with ¥60 billion in aggregate capital commitments.
