Herbert Smith Freehills' renewables experts advise on the construction and installation of Lake Bonney utility-scale battery

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Infigen Energy on contracting for the construction and installation of a new 25MW / 52MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to be located next to Infigen’s 278.5MW Lake Bonney Wind Farm, near Millicent in South Australia.

Herbert Smith Freehills also advised Infigen on funding agreements with the SA Government and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to co-fund the approximately A$38 million development. The SA Government and ARENA have each committed A$5 million in grant funding (A$10 million in total).

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and a syndicate of around 20 development financial institutions and commercial lenders on the financing of the US$1 billion expansion of a world-scale urea fertilizer production facility near Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

White & Case Advises NORD/LB on Financing of Subsidy-Free Spanish Solar Park

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank, as mandated lead arranger and lender, on the €100 million financing for the construction of the 174 MWp Don Rodrigo solar park in Spain.

The plant will be built by BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG, and is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2018. It is being built in an area covering around 265 hectares near Seville in southern Spain and will generate approximately 300 GWh of solar power annually.

WFW advises ING Bank on US$220m nine vessel financing

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised ING Bank, London Branch (“ING”) in connection with a US$87m increase to a US$131m loan facility originally granted to Latsco Shipping Ltd (“Latsco”) to finance the construction of five new high-spec MR product tankers. The increase has been used to up the number of modern tankers being financed to nine, the last of which was financed in May 2018.

TLT advises Blackfinch and Santander on 6.4MW wind acquisition

TLT has advised Blackfinch Investments on its acquisition of a 6.4MW 1ROC accredited wind project in Scotland. TLT also advised Santander who provided project finance to part-fund the deal.

DLA Piper advises Sacyr on urban organic waste management facility PPP in Melbourne

DLA Piper has advised Sacyr Environment Australia Pty Ltd on all financing arrangements and the project documents for the development, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a waste processing facility PPP in Melbourne, Victoria.

Following the competitive tendering process and successful financing, Sacyr will build a mechanical and biological urban organic waste treatment plant in Dandenong South with a capacity of 100,000 tons/year, serving a population of 1.2 million residents.
