Herbert Smith Freehills has advised New Energy Solar Limited on its acquisition of the 108.4 MWDC Beryl solar project in New South Wales from First Solar Inc.

New Energy Solar has interests in 20 solar projects in the United States and recently acquired its first Australian asset, the Manildra solar farm, also from First Solar.

Linklaters advises Octopus on the UK’s largest biomass and landfill gas portfolios

Linklaters advised Octopus Investments on the successful completion of a £174 million refinancing of the largest independent portfolio of biomass and landfill gas projects in the UK. The refinancing is one of the largest transactions of its kind and the first major UK biomass deal in 2018.

The biomass portfolio, which Octopus acquired on behalf of its investors in 2015, includes 5 biomass plants and 22 landfill sites.

The financing was provided by Natwest, HSBC, Investec, Sabadell, Barclays and AIB.

CMS advises on production and distribution of "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again"

International law firm CMS has advised on all legal aspects of the development, financing, and distribution of the new Mamma Mia film "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again".

The film which stars Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Julie Walters and other Hollywood stars will be released in the UK on 20 July.

As part of the project, the CMS team negotiated with Universal Pictures including on securing all necessary music rights to the original ABBA compositions. The team had previously performed a similar role on the original Mamma Mia film.

Orrick Advises Lenders in €300 Million Financing of High-Speed Internet Network in France

KWM advises on historic Granville Harbour wind farm in Tasmania

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Palisade Investment Partners on the financing for the development and construction of the historic 111.6 MW Granville Harbour Wind Farm.

Located near Zeehan, Tasmania, the project will feature 31 turbines and is backed by a power purchase agreement with Hydro Tasmania. The project will be developed by Palisade Investment Partners and marks the most significant renewable energy investment in Tasmania to date.

CMS successfully advises on the revised financing of offshore wind farm Merkur

Hamburg – The international law firm CMS has advised Merkur Offshore GmbH as project company and its shareholders and investors Partners Group (headquartered in Switzerland), InfraRed Capital Partners (based in the United Kingdom), DEME (based in Belgium), Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Énergie (based in France) and General Electric (based in the United States) in connection with the revised financing of the construction and the operation of the offshore wind farm "Merkur" under a syndicated loan facility of over EUR 1.5 billion.
