DLA Piper acts for Badminton World Federation on media rights appointment

DLA Piper has represented the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the governing body for badminton, on its appointment of IMG Media for the global exploitation of all media rights for all BWF major events, the BWF World Superseries and BWF Grand Prix Gold.

The deal, which comes into effect at the start of the 2014 Superseries cycle, will see BWF's media-rights earnings increase four-fold as badminton's world-governing body capitalises on the sport's increasing global popularity and profile.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises easyJet on new Airbus order

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has advised easyJet plc (easyJet) on its new Airbus order announced today (June 18 2013), under which the airline will acquire 135 new aircraft from Airbus. The new order remains subject to approval by easyJet’s shareholders.

easyJet has agreed to order 35 Current Generation A320 Aircraft and 100 New Generation A320neo Aircraft from Airbus for delivery from 2015 until 2020. Airbus has also granted easyJet the right to acquire up to 100 further New Generation A320neo Family Aircraft.

Freshfields advises consortium of banks on the establishment of a foreign exchange trading platform

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised a consortium of banks on the establishment of ParFX, a new spot FX trading platform, in conjunction with leading global interdealer broker Tradition

The consortium of banks included Barclays, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Royal Bank of Canada, SEB, Standard Chartered, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and UBS.

Trowers & Hamlins appointed to Eskan Bank consortium

Trowers & Hamlins has been appointed to advise Eskan Bank, a bank wholly owned by the Government of Bahrain, on its project funding strategy and exit strategy for a series of social housing project across Bahrain.

The firm has been appointed as part of a consortium with KPMG and Barwa Bank of Qatar to advise on the structure of a funding programme so Eskan Bank can develop social housing projects totalling 2,500 residential units in the Kingdom of Bahrain.  The units will be built on land currently forming part of Eskan Bank's own "land bank".

Clifford Chance commits £1m in pro bono support to the fight against undernutrition

Clifford Chance will be the official pro bono legal partner for Nutrition for Growth (NfG), a new initiative which aims to prevent undernutrition, the largest single contributor to child mortality worldwide.  NfG is being spearheaded by the UK Government, the Federal Government of Brazil and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and will draw on funding and support from a wide range of other international organisations.  Through the arrangement, Clifford Chance will provide in principle £1m of pro bono support.  This will include advice from around the firm's glob

Banco Santander - agreement with Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic to grow its global asset management business

Slaughter and May and Uría Menéndez, working as an integrated team, are advising Banco Santander, S.A. on an agreement with leading global private equity firms Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic to boost the global growth of its asset management unit, Santander Asset Management ('SAM').

The transaction values SAM at EUR 2,047 million and will generate a net capital gain for the Santander Group of EUR 700 million.

Addleshaw Goddard advises Britvic on its first India venture

Addleshaw Goddard's India Business Group has advised leading soft drinks business Britvic plc on its agreement with The Narang Group for the sale and distribution of its popular Fruit Shoot drink in India commencing mid-2014. The deal will mark the first time that Britvic has launched one of its products in India and is part of Britvic's strategy of accelerated international growth.
