DLA Piper has advised and represented McDonald’s, the leading global fast-service restaurant brand, in a recently completed transaction resulting in the opening of a new restaurant in Kyiv. McDonald’s used the development of residential complex Obolon Residences on the restaurant’s former plot where it had operated since 1999, as an opportunity to move to a new building with a brand-new format, unique architecture and innovated design.

Travers Smith LLP has advised long-standing client Bridgepoint on its agreement with Burger King Europe GmbH (BKE), an affiliate of Restaurant Brands International Inc. (RBI), to become the UK master franchisee of BURGER KING®, with exclusive rights to the brand in the UK. Bridgepoint will simultaneously acquire the Caspian UK Group, one of the UK’s largest BURGER KING® franchisees with 74 restaurants.

Owning approximately $3.3 billion of shares of Procter & Gamble, Trian's election to the Board of Directors was in conjunction with its efforts to address Procter & Gamble's disappointing performance throughout the past decade. HSF advises on critical NSW infrastructure deal

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Centennial Coal, EnergyAustralia and Springvale SK Kores on the procurement of a critical water treatment plant and associated pipeline to service Springvale Mine and Mt Piper Power Station. The project achieved financial close on 13 November 2017.

The water treatment facility will allow the beneficial reuse of water from Springvale Mine use by Mt Piper Power Station. The Mt Piper Power Station can provide up to 15% of New South Wales’ electricity demand.

First Taco Bell opened in Finland – we advised on contract negotiations

We have advised Restel Ltd. on contract negotiations with the American Tex-Mex-inspired fast food chain Taco Bell. As a result of the negotiations, the Taco Bell chain has been brought to Finland and the first restaurant was opened in Helsinki on 9 November. Already within a few weeks, Taco Bell will open two further restaurants in Espoo: on 16 November in the Sello shopping centre located in Leppävaara and on 23 November in the Iso Omena shopping centre in Matinkylä. Prior to this, Iceland has been the only Nordic country to have Taco Bell restaurants.

Leading Cardiff law firm highly commended for major procurement project

Procurement specialists at leading Cardiff law firm Blake Morgan are celebrating after a major Welsh Government project was highly commended for innovation at a prestigious industry award ceremony.

The firm’s lawyers were part of a Welsh Government team to procure a new fleet of three highly-specialised patrol boats to protect Welsh fishing waters.
